Great metal detector! My son has been wanting one of these for a while. I'd never used one before, but we were able to set it up super quick right out of the box, and the included manual/instructions explained everything in a clear and simple way that got us detecting in a matter of minutes. Seriously - I was impressed with how quickly my son picked up on how to use it, even correcting me at times. "Mama, you have to go to PP mode to find out how deep the treasure is!" đ I also like how the pole is adjustable, making it easy for both my 6 year old and his 6 foot tall dad to use comfortably. If you remove the display screen (takes literally one second), it fits in the provided backpack without having to take the whole thing apart. So far we've only found nails and screws in our backyard, but we'll be taking it out for adventures soon. Great product for the whole family!

Got this for my son for one of his Christmas gifts. He has been trying to figure it out and having fun in our larger than average back yard, that back up to a forest. The assembly was pretty quick with one of the parts breaking off cause that rubbery twisty clamp was stuck, really didn't need it. It appears to work and is sensitive to the different materials. It does need a good charge before you take it out on those longer explorations. It feels light and cheap, but so far it has been ok for a teenager to handle and not break on his couple days of trying it out!

As a complete newbie to metal detecting, I was a bit nervous about getting started. But this InkTrail detector made it so simple! I especially loved the large, clear LCD screen and the different modes. It was a blast trying to find the coins my friends hid in the backyard during our Halloween party. Even though I didn't strike gold (yet!), I had a lot of fun and can't wait to explore more. This is a fantastic detector for beginners and a great way to get into this hobby.

This seems to be an effective, lightweight, adjustable metal detector. I don't have anything to compare it with, as this is my first. It's easy to assemble and it worked well detecting the various metals I tested it with. I've yet to take it out for actual treasure hunting, but it seems like it will do a decent job. Overall, I'm pleased with this metal detector.

This is my first metal detector. Out of the box, the setup was easy and intuitive. Everything connects and extends in quickly. The kit comes with the detector and batteries, a small folding shovel, headphones, and a carrying backpack which was too small to fit my back (and says very boldly "Metal Detector" on the back). I read the manual and did the initial quick start with it laying on a table and testing it with various metals. The indicator shows a two digit number when detecting and that number corresponds to a set of metals. The lowest 1-40 is âIronâ and the highest 86-99 is âsilverâ, and the pitch of beep sound increase in frequency. (See picture of chart of metals from manual). Overall it detected everything I waved in front of it, but it needed to be less than 4 or 5 inches away. Next I took it outside and buried a couple coins slightly under dirt and covered with leaves. It detected them, but it was really hard to find the exact location. I used the âpinpointâ mode which sounds a constant increasing pitch while detecting, and that seemed to get me very close, but I still had a 4â diameter area to dig. I found them, but it wasnât as easy as I thought it should be. Overall, I think this would be a good beginner detector for the right price. I am a novice and managed to start detecting in very little time. Someone wanting to be a serious detectorist will probably want something more sensitive and advanced.

This metal detector is easy to assemble. The electronics are powered by two 9V batteries which are included. This slides onto the hand grip similarly to a hot/cold shoe on a camera. The sensor attaches with a single plastic bolt. Wrap the cable around the pole and attach it to the electronics. A trowel and headphones are included. The headphone jack is 1/8" which is much more common than the older 1/4" plug. The length of the pole is easily adjusted to suit the user or collapsed for storage. I'm really happy with the performance. It's much easier to use than my old White's detector. It automates many of the functions that are manually set on the White's. The sensitivity and discriminator can still be adjusted to fine tune the performance for your ground. It works well for people that just want to use the defaults while still allowing experts to tweak its performance.

The media could not be loaded. For the price I really thought it was going to be better. Very cheap feeling and it doesn't pick up metal very well when I was testing it out. I am disappointed. Would reccomend.
