  • Buyer Beware!
i'm updating my review. It has been an entire Spring and Summer with this product. Nature decided to skip Fall and we got 3 inches of snow in the first snow of the year. The coop collapsed. I'll try to upload photos but from the looks of it, even just a little snow was too much for the flimsy metal to support. My chickens are ok, but traumatized and now they have nowhere warm to sleep tonight. This coop is probably fine if you live somewhere it never snows. Otherwise beware, this is a mild winter, first snow, not particularly wet or anything and it just collapsed with no warning. ****** MY PREVIOUS REVIEW ***** For the price I paid this is a good value. The packaging was top notch. I was impressed with the time effort and thought the seller put into it. I saw a review on here that mentioned crappy packing. I can assure you that the crappy packing is no more. It's really durable packaging too. The delivery guy banged it down so hard outside my front door that I thought a car crash had occurred. My dog who normally barks when deliveries come went running in terror at the noise. Despite that, the package was just fine and so were it's contents. The pieces, all of them were present. There were no shortages but there were also no spares. The instructions suck. They aren't step by step, they are phase by phase. Each part is supposed to be labeled with a sticker and you get drawings that show what each stage is supposed to look like in terms of what parts go where. But there is no advice on order of connecting things, which would have been really handy. Another problem is not every part has a sticker. It's very easy to confuse A's with C's for instance. They are close enough to look right until you get to the very end and find that the door does not fit because you used C for the body making it a bit shorter and A for the roof making the whole thing a bit wider. It's a royal pain in the butt to disassemble and swap those parts if you make that mistake. So just remember it has A roof, and the walls are a C cube. This is where the bad news starts. Most of the tube parts are ok, but a few of my tubes have split seams meaning that whoever welded it didn't do a good job and whoever inspected it, didn't inspect it. Structurally these are going to impede it's stability if there is any weight at all on the structure such as snow accumulation, heavy wet leaves etc. If that happens it is going to collapse. The non-tube parts were welded by a 12 year old who has never held a welder before. I'm quite convinced of this. There is spatter and mig wire all over the place. (running wrong temp, too far from the weld for too short a time). I used to be a production welder on an assembly line. So these things bother me more than most. It takes about 4 or 5 shifts to get really good at this sort of welding, so either the welder did not care or did not know. Either way, NONE of these welded parts should have made it past QC. The problem with welds of this type is that they are like holding it together with hotglue. When the metal used as glue fails, then so does the part. Welding is NOT like gluing. Welding is melting, You're melting the metals at the edges to form a puddle and when that puddle cools you have a bond that is nearly as strong as the original metal. Machining & finishing, don't get me started on machining and finishing. There is no indication that anything was ever machined and there is no finish work at all. Every cut is jagged and sharp. It has little tiny pieces of metal shavings that will cut you bad, so wear good leather gloves while working with it. Bonus points if you have a dremel and can do your own finishing. You'll have a much better time putting it together if you do your own machining, smoothing and a small bit of wd40 on each mating surface before hand. So here's the final score. Delivery time 5 out of 5 (this product was delivered much earlier than I expected, like days early) Packing 10 out 5 (this is the best packaged product I've ever received) Ease of assembly 3 out of 5 (see above, also you'll need a drill to put the door on, you need to drill metal without a guide) Quality 3 out of 5 (the material itself is actually ok. but the poor kid or robot doing the welding did not know how to weld properly. Every single welded component will eventually need to be replaced or at least rewelded. Value 4 out of 5 I feel like compared to all the other identical chinesium products on the market this was the best value in dollar terms. It was the second or third cheapest, but it was packaged well and it was in stock and delivered so quickly. My final tip is before you get this, break out a measuring tape and measure 20ft x 10ft x 7ft(tall) and make sure you actually have space for this. Mark out the foot print with tape, spray paint or chalk so you know where it will go. When you first open the box, pull everything out, separate and count each and every part, then lay down your four corners, your base, the walls, the roof, then the door. Once you make sure the parts count matches the manifest, break out your dremel and some wd40 and do the finish work that they didn't do. Then and only then should you begin assembly. The 30 minutes it takes to finish and oil the connections will save you hours of frustration later. For me this was a one person job even with the roof. I'm not a big person. At 5'6" I can barely reach the ceiling spine. But I was able to get it up by myself no problem by building the arches and then connecting the arches with the spine using a step stool. Took me 4 hours. Would have been faster with help. ... show more

  • Not for rabbits
Size: 9.8'L x 9.8'W x 6.4’H
Alot of cursing, prepare for 3 days work.. unless you wake up at daylight. Take your chill pill and coffee cause your going to need it. Packaging was nice and organized. 1st day, guessing where the unmarked pipes go, the stickers fell off in shipping, buying bolts since the original bolts escaped during shipping because the bag was broke open! 2nd day the door does not fit snugly because the door is flimsy. Badly designed door.. don't get me started on the tack weld job! I am not even a welder and I know what that is. This will last until fall.. UNLESS YOU GET CREATIVE AND SUPPORT IT ALL.. however, it was easy to snap pipes together.. some pipe was bent inwards so I took a pair of pliers and bent it back so the pipe would fit inside the other. In the photos you can see where the issues with the door needs secured. My rabbit can easily push the door open and get loose. Not fun and with my schedule, limited time. My rabbit already Kung fu kicked the chicken wire and tried chewing her way out. I guess the grass is greener on the other side, Pun intended. Prepare to get the lotion for your hands once your all done along with a chiropractor appointment. The zip ties will crack your hands open due to dryness. I have no health issues mind you. I dreampt of tip ties for days! Make sure you are in shape before starting this project and are motivated! I also recommend 4 people to get it done faster. I was the sole person putting this together because no one would help me. AGAIN, CHICKENS ONLY BECAUSE I REALIZED I NOW MUST BUY STEEL PIPE TO GIVE THE STRUCTURE BETTER SUPPORT COME WINTER. I LEANED ON IT AND IT NEARLY CRIMPED. NO SUPPORT FOR THE BACK AND SIDES. SO I NOW HAVE TO ALSO BUY PIPE FOR THAT AS WELL AS THE TOP. I just got the entire enclosure done, so do not criticize the zip ties, I have a method for my madness. We have hawks, so if they decide to fly down, they will touch the zip ties and fly away. I added my own tarp that was much larger providing way more shade. The HUTCH is not included. I have a long way to go with this investment to make this bunny safe and happy. I will be adding a flower dig box so she can dig in soil. Much more to do just don't come at me with critical thoughts. She is happier out there than stuck in a HUTCH in my bedroom. I needed something quick cause her urine stinks! She can not free roam in the house cause we have a dog. ... show more

  • It holds my chickens, but!
As seen in the pictures, if you ive in an area where you get snow or even rain and falling leaves you might want to consider a different product! This one is not study and "will not" hold up to weather. Not at all happy with this product. The welds snapped, tubing bent, and I lost 3 chickens from the top collapsing during lite snow. ... show more

  • Budget Chicken Coupe
For the money it’s hard to beat, assembly was simple but the instructions lack direction. The chicken wire that came with it was coated and much better quality than expected, I would buy again and recommend to others.

  • Zip ties so many zip ties.
Decent enough for a chicken run but the door is kinda messed up. Had to hammer out a couple of the bars and the door refuses to seat properly.

  • You get what you pay for
Size: 9.8'L x 9.8'W x 6.4’H
As many have said. The quality of this leaves much to be desired. There is so much slag on these joints that some of the parts will. Or fit together well. There should be more support portions to prevent the center like from bowing down with the weight of the tarp (which isn't much, mind you). The door install is a joke and the parts don't even seem to match up with the instructions. strongly recommend using somrjing other than the chicken wire they send with this. But for the price I suppose you can only expect an item that was clearly welded together by a toddler. ... show more

  • CHICKS ARE DEAD
Got this, thinking this will be awesome for when we get new chicks. It was overall designed okay. It was a pain in the butt to put together. The chicken wire they give you is flimsy. Some critter got in through the wire that comes with this cage and I have 8 chicks dead in the coop and 11 missing. They also provide zip ties with it. I highly suggest building one with supplies from Menards, Home Depot or even Lowes and not going this route. Also, the chicks were in this coop less than a week and were slaughtered since this cage is not durable. ... show more
