It has a bumpy surface and I've seasoned it in the oven about 10 times. It's not perfect but it's not bad either! The heat distribution and retention is ok. But hey for a cheap cast iron it's worth it! I still get a good sear on my steak and veggies. The thing I dislike the most about this pan is that isn't can be a little difficult to clean at times but overall it's a solid 4/5 for me. The media could not be loaded. I will probably use this pan more for baking than stovetop cooking because it doesn’t heat evenly. I liked how it browned the bacon but I had to rearrange the bacon every so often
