As a half price alternative to the Concept 2, I feel that it matches the more expensive rower on almost every point and in some ways improves on it. The rower has excellent resistance adjustments that take if from fairly easy to quite difficult, and of course rowing faster raises the difficulty. It took me about 20 minutes to put together, you simply bolt together a few parts to make the two major assemblies. In fact, getting it free from the excellent packing takes longer than assembly. It splits at the middle for easy storage, and is rock solid after reassembly. If you have used a Concept 2 rower, this is practically a clone with no downgrade in sturdiness and the rowing feel is almost identical. In fact, the seat is much more comfortable. The only real downgrade from the Concept 2 is the display panel, but since I use the EXR app exclusively with my workouts that is not an issue for me. Links up seamlessly with your ipad or phone app through Bluetooth. I am not a light guy and the machine is rock solid, I have felt no slipping and it is steady under me no matter how hard I row. I feel like I got a great bargain on a quality piece of workout equipment.

Merach R11 Air Pro Rowing Machine for Home I give this 5 stars because it is perfect for my needs and the price was a steal. The resistance seems a bit weak, it is too much for me now, and on high I can only row for a short time... but, I feel like I will eventually outgrow it. Maybe in a year... When/if that day comes, I will experiment with adding weights to my arms and legs. It is LONG! 7'11" it is not tippy at all. The glide surface is not painted and shiny smooth so you do not need to worry about the seat chipping the paint away by wear. You cannot hear the chair slide at all, perfectly machined and zero wobble! ...and, the fan seems quieter than a window box fan. It is around 100lbs in the box so if you are not already strong, you will need help with it. The FedEx guy lifted it up and set it on my porch like it was a feather, he was showing off! Without a doubt, this is pro equipment! I have done a lot of research on rowers and this one shines above all others in current price, durability and function. The chain is a HUGE plus, the recoil is immediate, and no worries about a canvas strap wearing out and needing replacement. This is really the ticket, grab one while supplies remain available!

It is a nice and well built machine. Rows smoothly, fairly easy to put together. The only reason for four stars is that the screen is hard to see and it eats up batteries pretty fast. The blue tooth works well and with multiple apps.

*Edit* A year and many thousands of meters of rowing later, I still feel the same as the below review and am still very happy. * I've done Crossfit off and on for about 15 years now and rowing is one of my very favorite ways to exercise. Due to current life situations and location, we set up a garage gym at home and I was looking for a rower that would not break the bank but give me the same function I was used too. I had previously tried a smaller rower thinking the compact size would be nice, but it did not have enough length for me to use a full stroke. I'm only 5'8'' but with long arms and legs and can max the chain out on a Concept 2 when using a full stroke and rowing hard. This has the exact same reach where I am just shy of smacking the handle into the front bar at a full stroke rowing as hard as I can. This is perfect and if the Concept 2 fits you, this one will as well. In fact, nearly every part looks identical between the two. With two exceptions. The foot rest on the Merach is a much stiffer plastic that is a little harder to adjust and not very comfortable on the heel due to being a little too stiff and sharp. Not a deal breaker, but especially since I prefer to workout barefoot, less comfortable. And as others have mentioned, the monitor is different. It has all the functions, I would just greatly prefer to be able to lock the screen onto showing meters/time, or calories/time, etc. Instead, what it does is scroll back and forth through all the metrics every 5 seconds which is a bit annoying as it seems to be always showing whatever one I don't care about when I glance up at the screen. Again, not a deal breaker for stuff at home, I'm not trying to win anything that 5 seconds would make a difference for, but it is kind of annoying. If Merach offered upgraded foot rests and monitors, I would buy those and add to this machine. Even given those two less than ideal things, it is still a great machine and I am loving using it. It is a surprisingly solid for the price, and truly feels like all the parts came out of the same factory as the more expensive machines with the exception of the two things noted above. It only took a couple minutes to assemble with one person. And yes, you can stand it up to store just like a Concept 2 without taking it apart in the middle. I love rowing with this and am very happy with what I got for the price. I plan to use it for many years and would happily buy again. If you want a very solid rower for a pretty decent price, I would say go for this one with no hesitation.

I can't think of something that has been as well engineered and precisely manufactured as this rowing machine. Assembly was clearly explained and everything fit together exactly as designed. Love it.... much cheaper then the concept rowers, but the components seem to be of equal quality. I dont like the app, because if you use the app the display on the rower doesn't work.....So if your watching TV on your phone and running the app, you can't see your rowing progress on the display. Kind of annoying, but still a great rower for the price. I have noticed that no matter how much I row, I still end up at the same place I started. Wish it had wheels to take me places.

Overall a decent rower. Shipped quickly, arrived without damage and the machine was easy to assemble by myself. The resistance, like many other reviews have stated, leaves a lot to be desired. At my local gym I use the Matrix rower on level 3 or 4 (out of 10) and can get my heart rate into the 150s-160s if I’m pushing; on this MERACH rower I can only seem to get my HR into the 130s with the resistance on 10 (the maximum). Considering I purchased this to get LISS cardio done at home, it’ll do. The foot platform and straps are a bit uncomfortable—not enough to be a problem, but it’s noticeable at times throughout the workout. The rowing motion is relatively smooth and the seat isn’t uncomfortable. For the price point I’d say this is an okay purchase for getting low intensity cardio sessions done, but if you’re looking to row for the sake of rowing and improve as an athlete, I’d go with a higher end machine.
