I like that I can get my (large, male) hand inside, to clean off the scale film that forms on the glass, each use (my water is of high mineral content). But... watch out for the two sharp little points of the lid's (internal) hinge mount; which snags/rips the paper towel(s) (or cloth, I suppose) when wiping internally. Regular, heavier scale accumulation still forms on the metal bottom/heater plate. But (as with any such) simply boiling an inch of some cheap vinegar in it every few months... dissolves it all right away. Glass is thick enough to likely withstand long term usage. I had a (smaller/cheaper) glass unit this one replaces. The cheaper unit had glass so thin it was scary. I was VERY careful with it, but found it one morning, with a huge crack in it - no idea how happened, as it never suffered any impacts. Go figure. Unit cools quickly, is pleasant to watch work, but is slower than I expected, to reach a boil. With the minimum water level (17/18 fl. oz.'s - my daily coffee prep), it takes three mins to boil (at 6500' alt.). My even older (non-see-through [i.e., metal-walled]) unit took only two mins, for the same fluid level. It's 1500 Watts, and this glass unit is 1800 Watts; so, I had expected a bit faster boil. Oh, well - a minor non-issue for me; but perhaps worth noting. I've not timed larger amounts of fluid to the boiling point. The Auto-off works fine, even with half the marked 'minimum' fluid level in it. No delay, so I think there's a comfortable safety margin. Recommended. I like it.

The media could not be loaded. I am so in love with this kettle. I have had several electric kettles in the past and none compare to this one. It heats up instantly and boils so quickly. It auto shuts off, which most do, but is such a convenient feature. It’s gorgeous, I love the blue light and being able to see the water boil. I love the large opening making it easy to wash. Plus it came with this super cute flower sponge. The kettle is also huge, I didn’t expect it to be as big as it is. It holds so much water, I haven’t even needed the amount of water it holds yet. The water tastes so clean, it doesn’t taste metallic. I’m so impressed. 10/10 would recommend.

Great kettle, I've used it daily for 8 months without a hiccup. The most significant distinguishing factor for this kettle vs. others is that it's all metal or glass, you don't have boiling water running over plastic components as you do with most electric kettles. All plastics degrade with sun and heat, so this was really important to me. Aside from this, the kettle has been great. It's worked non stop, it's easy to open, pour, fill, move around, etc. The large lid makes it easy to clean (though that's nearly never necessary. 5 stars all the way here.

The first version of this review rated 1 out of 5 stars with me, essentially for poor reliability and customer service. Before I explain why I changed my mind with this update, here’s my first review dated 11-18-2021 Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2021 Verified Purchase For years I’ve been buying a very similar design of kettle made by Hamilton-Beach: I like them very much but they would last about two years on average. When my current one began acting up, I decided to try this one. However, before my order was even delivered, I determined the problem lay not with my HB kettle, but with my GFCI outlet. Once I fixed that, the HB kettle was back in action. Rather than return the new MegaWise kettle, I put it away for safekeeping. Now I had an instant back-up! When the HB kettle finally died months later, I got out the MegaWise and congratulated myself on having no interruption in my coffee delivery. It worked great (note the past tense) and I liked it. The design and ergonomics were good. Figured I'd found my new kettle supplier. Yesterday the blue illumination ring (highly practical as well as esthetically pleasing) along the base stopped working. The outlet checked out ok, but kettle wouldn't light up when you switched it on. It still heats up - so it's still useable and still activates the auto-off function - but I'm always having to watch it to make sure it heats up when I switch it on. So, not two weeks into actual use and it's had a failure. Not happy. On the Amazon page where the kettle is displayed says as it's very first bullet point of product information in the 'About this item' panel; "Mega Support. 7-24 Live Chat Support" Oh, really? Where?? I looked everywhere but couldn't find it or any other point-of-contact information. Amazon's link to "Visit the MegaWise Store" was no use either, except to note that this product is 'Currently Unavailable.' Hmm... not looking good. Called Amazon Help to see if they could assist me in getting touch with the maker and one of their people ended up having to put me on hold while they searched around to try and find this information. Finally, all they could give me was a Hotmail.com email address and a phone number for somewhere in Germany(?). For a company which appears to want to give the impression of good customer service, this was a huge FAIL. *So that brings me to this 11-24-22 update and a newly bestowed 4 stars. I soldiered on until this week when I finally got fed up with the kettle not indicating if it was active. I’d fill it up, hit the ‘On’ switch and then have no clue as to whether it was working or not until a few minutes had passed and it would start making that noise they all make when the water is starting to heat up. It’s amazing some of the things you’ll put up with, isn’t it. I decided I’d give MegaWise a shot at redemption and ordered another one. It arrived today and, while there wasn’t really anything immediately obvious, I somehow got the overall impression they’d pulled their act together and become more serious about their product. The biggest clue was the warrantee process. The instructions had me download an app called ‘Transparent,’ which took but a moment. I then used it to scan the QR Code located on the top of the kettle’s box, entered my Amazon Order Number, and I was done. I was then informed my two-year warrantee for the kettle had been noted and activated. My brand new clean and ever so shiny kettle again lights up at the base when switched on and I’m a happy chappy again. It looks as though their after-sales service has indeed upped their game. I guess we’ll see, huh…
