  • Great Product
My pellet stove igniter stopped working, so I’ve been using a handful of pellets and a Propane torch to light them. It would take some finagling to get the pellets burning with the door closed before they’d go out or the stove precheck would error out on me. With these starter pellets, I just add a handful of pellets, drop about ten starter pellets on top, hit it once with the torch and its good to go after about 1 minute. I can close the stove, turn it on and the fire sustains properly during the pre-checks and the filling. Usually the pellets filling the burner pot would put out the fire and by piling up and suffocating it, but not now. Everything's nice and toasty and I no longer swear when firing up the pellet stove. ... show more

  • Very good starter. Use caution with DNA.
These worked very well for starting my pellet stove. They would work better if they were made from a more denser pellet -- the pellets I buy have the lowest are very low ash content and pretty hard wood, and soaking them in DNA gives me a better starter pellet. CAUTION: If you're not familiar with denatured alcohol, you need to know -- do NOT breath the fumes, DO cover the container immediately after you get the pellets out and close it tightly. The alcohol evaporates very quickly, and breathing fumes is definitely not good for your body. I use DNA in woodworking frequently, so am familiar with it's usefulness and it's dangers. ... show more

  • These starter pellets lose their ignitability about half way through the canister.
When you initially open these canisters they wok great. However about half way through the canister they lose their oomph so to speak in ignitability. And yes, I do make sure the cover is replaced tightly.
