Love it! Put it to use immediately. Gramma is adjusting to the comfort. I had the same type of product maybe 25+ years ago with my children when they were babies and it worked wonders. I sit on the sofa on my side with my legs up. I prop up my torso on a couple of throw pillows so that I can sit up high enough to reach my computer, which I have on a mobile table in front of me. If you can imagine the position I'm in, you can see that most of my weight is resting on my outer thigh. I used to simply rest my thigh against the material of the sofa. Then, one day, I happened to notice a darkening of my skin at the exact place on my thigh that I always sat on. I'm diabetic. I know that diabetics are prone to skin-breakdown due to pressure on the skin. A person confined to a bed develops skin ulcers because pressure between the skin and the surface of the bed blocks the flow of blood to these areas. As a result of the constriction caused by pressure, blood and oxygen can't nourish the skin tissue. The skin begins to break down. At first, the skin turns dark and rough. Eventually, the skin tissue breaks open, resulting in an open sore. My doctor told me, "Don't sit in the same position all the time. Switch sides, if you're insistent on lying on your side." I asked for a prescription cream or a salve to treat my darkened skin. She said the darkening will go away on its own if you stop sitting in the same position all the time." So no fancy creams. After researching ways to help my skin to heal faster, I came across the "sheepskin" approach. The sheepskin had to come a particular kind of sheep - something about the texture the the hair and how its hair shaft is stiff enough to keep the weight of the body elevated and not resting directly on a hard surface. This particular piece of sheepskin that I keep under my thigh is incredibly soft, but it manages to keep blood flowing to my thigh. As a result, slowly but surely, the roughness of my skin on the darkened skin has become smooth. Best of all, the dark skin has faded. I still switch sides (seldom, though). But I know that the sheepskin stopped the progression of skin breakdown (and the eventual ulcerated open sore). I would recommend this type of sheepskin over less expensive knock-offs comprising of lamb's wool from the wrong breed of sheep. ... show more

My wife must remain in bed, on her back 24-7, and we've tried everything you can imagine to help keep her back from developing heat rash and the beginnings of pressure sores. Air mattresses, egg crate foam, mattress pad with "cool" pockets... all were marginally success, but these sheep skins fixed everything. I was concerned it would be hot and cause her back to sweat and become useless.... nope... it's magic... comfortable for her (I got the large one) and her back/butt has almost returned to the normal color, and not that red angry look. I recommend it highly for the bed bound patient. I haven't washed it yet, so can't comment on how it will wash/dry. ... show more

Works as should but very narrow. After washing, ends curled up do narrower yet. Wish they made a rectangle one that's a throw size. Doesn't do good to order a twin, part under pillow is wasted, and dont need for feet.

The sheepskin is very sturdy and does wick away moisture. We were also able to use it to move my daughter up in bed. It says to air dry it, but I have washed it several times and dried it in the dryer, with no problem. It is very soft and thick. On the downside - he sheepskin had a strange odor, that finally went away after three washings. It is narrow, but wide enough for the average body. I would recommend it ... show more
