  • Excellent Results
Wanted Fairy Blue but it is so popular result in out of stock. Gonna try this color next. This product is easy on and washes out slowly. If you want the color to last longer then wash with baby shampoo. Don't care for the result? Color washes out quickly with a harsh or dandruff shampoo. All I get is compliments. ... show more

  • More like a blue mask toner than an actual color :(
More like a toner set an actual color! It looks like the reviews here are for a variety of different colors, but I bought the blue steel. I wanted something that would not be a vivid blue, but a definite soft grayish blue tone. I bleached my hair a week ago. The front and Lankes came out very pale and as usual the roots in back were still medium blonde. For me this is not a big deal, my hair is fragile so I can’t bleach too often. But normally the length where it is so pale picks up quite a bit of color and I’m fine with that variation. Three days after bleaching, I used a blue mask toner. Wasn’t perfect, but did take out some of the yellow tones. Today, one week after bleaching, are used manic panic blue steel for the first time. I’ve used some of their other products which have been fine. This one looked very blue in the tub, but when I applied it to my hair it looked very transparent. I put it on very heavily, and left it on for 2 1/2 hours. Note: I recently read that it’s better to not use conditioner prior to using manic panic, so I washed my hair this morning and did not condition it. It was a nightmare to deal with all day, but I figured it would be worth it. Apparently not! Left the manic panic blue steel on for 2 1/2 hours tonight, literally applied until all of my hair was totally saturated and then added more for good measure. Rinsed in lukewarm water, and then conditioned afterwards. Basically, my hair looks like I just applied another toner. Doesn’t really look blue at all. I was going for subtle, but this is ridiculous. The first photo shows my hair before from the top, second photo shows the end result from the side. Even on my side lengths which usually take the most color there’s pretty much nothing. ... show more

  • True to photo in Ad for me
After watching Monique Parent use this on Youtube, I tried it for my salt and pepper hair, more white in front, pepper in back. I used 1/2 jar on short hair, left it ONE HOUR under shower cap. Beautiful results, shiny and a blue very similar to the ad. I wash every 3 days, and color lasted/faded out after 3 washings, or 10-12 days for me. At that rate, I won't use it all the time, but it's a beautiful change and the cool colors work better on my peachy skin tone. Nice! ... show more

  • Not as intense as I hoped
It didn’t really stick to my level 10 bleached hair. I use the whole jar, combed it through, and waited with heat for 45 minutes. It was barely visible.

  • At the beginning I had no idea how to use them but now I am a lot better at it
I did another review too so, it's basically the same. I have been using manic pani for about 4 years on and off. At the beginning I had no idea how to use them but now I am a lot better at it. Of course it does stain and bleed out. But that's the disadvantages of going unnatural colors, if that makes sense. I would recommend to somewhat know what you are doing with this dye. Bleached or not. Also have someone to do it for you if you can! Quality is always good, I have never had problems with it before, I also always mix at least 2 colors for my hair. ... show more

  • Did almost nothing.
I followed the directions, watched at least a dozen videos on how to apply, how long to let it process, etc. and all it did was slightly brighten the silver I already have and slightly take out a tiny amount of brass on my light blonde hair. No blending the hair, no silver tones. So very disappointed. The one positive I can say is that my hair does feel very very soft and conditioned. That's the reason for the two stars. ... show more

  • Great at keeping hair grey.
I've used Manic Panic's Blue Steel to upkeep grey hair I had professionally dyed. I was very impressed by how evenly it colored my hair, my roots like to lift unevenly so a lot of times lighter colors look spotty (even when done professionally) and I didn't have this problem with Blue Steel. I did, however, leave it on my hair for a couple of hours (as I do with all vegetable dyes), and I added some dye to my conditioner to help with upkeep. If you're going for a pure grey you may be slightly disappointed, because there is a blue tint to this dye (especially in certain light), but it really is a gorgeous color. I would highly recommend it. ... show more
