I've been using this instead of permanent dye as I grow out my gray hair. It's a natural black on me and, even though it's not advertised to do so, it really does a nice job covering my grays. I feel 10 years younger. I shampoo 2x a week and find I don't need to touch up more than every 8 weeks or so when my roots start really showing. I've also layered this over a warm purple dye and really like the effect. Do wear gloves and I put a light layer of petroleum jelly around my hairline just to avoid too much staining, but for whatever reason this dye doesn't seem to stain surfaces as much as the fashion colors do. ... show more

I just bought this color for a natural dark brown because it's my natural color I've been trying to go back to. I got one jar of this cause I have thin hair. I put this on my head and it was very dark everything was covered. 45 mins later I wash it out and dry it. It's not dark at all. It's a red brown and looks horrible. The dye was also chunky when I opened it. Don't recommend this at all! ... show more

It looked great when i put it on my hair i was trying to do a half brown on top and half blonde on the bottom. In terms of technique i know it was more my fault and should have rinsed it separately because it did bleed into my blonde. Now thats not my biggest issue with it. I originally had demi permanent brown on my roots allover so the bottom blonde part of my hair had the demi. When i was done with the brown and went to bleach my hair myself it turned GREEN like a dark turquoise green all the while the rest of my hair lightened up as i knew it should, EVEN THE DEMI BROWN lightened up so fast and all was the same bleach level except for the parts i put the manic panic brown. It was a whole mess to try and get it out. All in all, if you want some temporary brown i would rather go with a demi permanent color as it will either wash out sooner or can be easily removed with bleach than this stuff. 3 stars because it looked nice for when i had it but removing it was a B. Love the results and it was so easy to use not messy, didn’t stain. I had manic panic after midnight blue highlights in my dark brown hair that were fading so I wanted to cover it with something more natural. Wasn’t sure how it would cover the blue but it worked amazing! The color looks so natural, it covered evenly. It’s almost identical to my natural hair color and it even covered the grey. Worked very well. I have ginger hair and it made it a nice brown color without too abrupt of a change. It dosnt come out too easily and the container can last 3-4 times on shorter hair.

i read a bunch of reviews talking about colors rinsing out separately, that definitely didn’t happen to me, it only rinsed out the dark red/brown color, not green or blue at all. i only did the ends of my hair. you can see they’re slightly lighter than my natural color. hopefully it fades nicely. see before and after. i left the dye on with my hair in a bun for an hour. ... show more

I thought the color was vibrant. Did not completely cover my greys but left a cook graduated color effect!! No odor, washed off my fingers and temple easily. Will def use this color again!!
