- I’ve been using this machine for about two weeks now, and I can honestly say it’s totally worth the price (after discount). Before I got this machine, I had a Body Solid Leverage Gym. The Body Solid was awesome as a gym subscription alternative. It used high-quality steel (probably 11 gauge) and could handle a lot of weight (up to 600 lbs). The only reason I switched to the Drone 3 Smith was because I was getting older and I had a really bad bike accident almost three months before I bought the smith station. I badly injured my knees and elbows and couldn’t workout for about a month. I had to rethink how I worked out. My injuries really messed up my ability to do pushing exercises. That was one of the downsides of the Body Solid gym - you would need a lot more energy to do pressing movements because of the leverage arm position. That’s when I started looking for better alternatives that could fit in a small space but also be safe. - One of the best things about a Smith Machine is that you can set safety stops and also set a starting position for the bar that doesn’t require as much effort to rack the weight for pressing movements. Even though the steel on the Drone 3 isn’t as good as the Body Solid Leverage Gym, the Drone 3 turns out to be surprisingly more stable. The front uprights are 12 gauge steel, the rest are all 14 gauge. Despite this, the Drone 3 Smith is still very stable during operation. You can comfortably do pressing and pulling movements without the whole gym rack station moving, which was a small problem with the Body Solid gym because of the total weight of the gym in general. In addition, the diagonal feet at the bottom towards the back make the smith station, in general, really rigid. - The pulley system works really well. You have the choice of 1:1 or 2:1 pulley ratios, on both sides. This means you won’t have to buy double the weight if you find yourself outgrowing the 2:1 pulley ratio. The pulley system is very smooth. I bought extra aluminum pulleys for even smoother but also quieter operation. But this additional enhancement is probably not necessary. - The Smith machine is great. It moves very smoothly, and the steel pillars are solid and not hollow, which adds to the Smith bar’s stability. The strength curve is tougher on the Drone 3 than the Body Solid Leverage Gym, probably because of the direct vertical movement of the smith machine and the pulley system. The leverage gym moves on an axis. You’re constantly getting tension on the Drone 3, unlike the tension leveling off on the leverage gym. I’m about 6’ 4”, and I find that I can perform pull downs with a decent stretch by using a step platform to sit on and the j hook with the leg attachment (set to the 2nd to lowest position on the upright) to hold me down. - To conclude, I’m very happy with my purchase, especially since it’s more comfortable for me to work out with my injuries.

So I did a lot of research on what kind of power rack to get and this one came with all the options I wanted. Dual cable trolly and smith rack is what sold me. My bedroom is 12 ft by 14 ft and it fits along with a bench, exercise bike and a recliner and a California King size bed. The customer service was great from Major fitness. Lee sent me a replacement cable because one was slightly longer than the other making a awkward movement when using both cable at same time. Thanks again to Major Fitness. So the best part of this machine is that if you have a good imagination or well versed in exercise movements you can do just about anything. I have modified some parts to make better uses for them. The rubber band pegs I cut and drilled a hole to fit pins to hold weight plates. This is not something I would recommend doing, but works great. This machine has shown great stability even when I put weights on the trolley and yank the weight upward it has very little wobble. The cables are smooth and have a lot of degree to pivot. The Smith rack is noisy but not irritating. It is smooth and has a lot of vertical travel. The smith rack stoppers seem very sturdy and strong, good design. All of the extras attachment that came with it are of good quality but do not have swivels. I however went to my local hardware store and bought a few swiveling hooks and carabiners. This does help the movement but I will be upgrading to swiveling bars in the future. I don't have anything bad to say about this machine other than I'm so happy with it my wife was jealous at first thinking I'm gonna spend more time with the machine. Well now she likes it so much she's using it more than I am. I can actually see this being a heirloom to my grandchildren granted that it's well maintained but, not without replacement of small parts that will wear like nylon wheels for cable and trolly system. Even if that did happen these parts are so generic that Amazon or hardware store would probably carry them. This machine was designed very well. One thing to note is when assembling there is a few videos on YouTube showing how to assemble you will need someone to pitch a helping hand and pay close attention to details. The parts are labeled with sticker and have a lot number for quality control. Hope you like this machine as much as I do if you decide to get it.

The video they provide to assemble is GREAT. Just had to pause and rewind a lot. The product for the price is good. Everything works great and happy with the purchase. During the install on the cables, the back rollers need to be removed to run the cable. The nuts and washer fell into the tube below and there were no extra washers or nuts provided.
