I'm not one to write reviews very often. Something has to far exceed my expectations for me to write one.... Here I am. About 6 weeks after getting the machine and putting it through some serious workouts only after researching for probably 2 months, I could not recommend this product more. Assembly is not ideal, but totally worth it for the product. It's the perfect size for a basement/garage gym, has the core of strength training available upon assembly, pulley system is smooth, and it's very sturdy. Those were all of my worries when ordering something based on pictures. One of the reasons I sent this route is because of the added weight stacks. That's a really nice touch and adds a lot of versatility to the routine. My wife also isn't much into lifting, but has been using this feature a lot more than I expected. Now, is this a professional gym unit that you'll find at your local gym? No. But is it everything and MUCH more than you can expect at this price? Absolutely. After extensive research on Smith machines, I can confidently say that the DONOW Smith Machine is the absolute best choice for the price. Compared to other high-end models that cost twice as much, this machine offers the same premium features and quality without breaking the bank. Unboxing & Assembly The machine arrived in eight well-packaged boxes, ranging from 50 to 130 lbs each, making it easy to manage piece by piece. Unboxing took a couple of hours, and while assembly was a significant time investment (approximately 8–10 hours), it was well worth it. I strongly recommend watching the assembly video at the bottom of the product page—it was a lifesaver when used alongside the instructions, ensuring I used the correct screws and parts. Performance & Build Quality Once assembled, the stability of this machine exceeded my expectations. Every component feels sturdy, well-engineered, and built to last, making workouts seamless. The machine offers a full range of motion with excellent safety features. Customer Support – Above & Beyond During assembly, I ran into a small issue where the top weight in the stack wouldn’t stay down. I emailed DONOW support on a Saturday, expecting a delayed response, but Jane replied within just a few hours with clear, step-by-step instructions. She even provided details on which screws to adjust, and her solution immediately fixed the issue. This level of responsiveness and expertise is rare and truly sets DONOW apart. This is an excellent home smith machine gym. The overall quality is 7.5/10 vs. commercial gyms. It’s not quite as smooth and heavy duty, but exceeds home gym standards. Very impressive machine. I scheduled install through Thumbtack. The day of installation, the guys show up, look at all the pieces and said it would take them two days and twice the price. I decided to tackle it myself. I had unboxed everything to prep the area for the installers and I wasn’t prepared to leave it all there all weekend. So starting on Saturday afternoon, I built this beast by myself. I finished 85% by 10:00pm. So 8.5 hours. Sunday, started at 8:00 and finished by 10:00. So 10.5 total hours. It went together well with the help of the video. Super happy with how it went. The hardest part was the final piece. The pull up bar. Don’t tighten the vertical posts until you fit the bar in place. You’ll need a second person to get it in place. The pulleys are a little complicated, but not difficult. Very well engineered. The one major issue was the weight plates. I ordered steel. They come in four small boxes. So over 75lbs. per box. Two of four were damaged. Customer service sent out new boxes, but they should be separated into less weight per box with better padding. I couldn’t wait for new plates, so I spray painted the damaged plates and they turned out fine. Customer service gave me a small discount. Overall, extremely satisfied. Has all features of much more expensive weight lifting systems at a very reasonable cost. One last tip. They give you exactly the number of nuts, bolts and parts needed to complete install. Don’t lose any parts. The only extras were washers which I probably forgot to install somewhere. ... show more

So far it’s living up to my expectations. It arrived on time and in great condition. I’ve had it for a while now and couldn’t be happier with it. It’s a sturdy, smooth-operating machine that feels very secure during workouts, and I’ve had zero issues. Assembly took some time, but it wasn’t difficult—especially with the help of the YouTube assembly video provided by DONOW. The instructions were clear, and everything fit together well. For the price, this machine is an outstanding value. It delivers quality, functionality, and performance that you’d expect from much more expensive equipment. This is a good machine. I like that the pulley ratio is 1 to 1. The steel weight plates slide easily and smoothly. It was easy to assemble. The instructions were very easy to follow. The price was very reasonable and the machine suits my needs perfectly. The smith bar glides smoothly on the guide rods. It is a strong frame. The only issues I have are that I can't install a regular olympic bar in the smith brackets and it really needs another weight storage bar on each side of the main frame.
