  • Quick and Easy
Size: 128MB built-in memory
This is a simple machine that is straightforward and easy to use to convert slides to digital at a high resolution. If you want to enhance images, use a more sophisticated photo editing program, though. This machine only has the basics for color and light and dark. This scanner does the job without a steep learning curve! ... show more

  • Takes time but worth is
Size: 128MB + 3 Negative Film Holder Trays
This is not a easy quick converter. But it does work just have to say I am thankful as over the decades I had sent the prints to family and never saw the photo again. NOW have a digital print. I think this is well worth the asking price. JUST understand it takes time to load the neg into the viewing slide. ... show more

  • Crazy simple and effective!
Size: 128MB built-in memory
So simple to use and produces great results! So much more cost effective than the places you ships slides off to to get them digitized…often at $10 per slide. The only downside is that there were no instructions included; but the equipment is quite intuitive.

  • Worked for what I needed
Size: 128MB built-in memory
I wanted to digitize my in-laws old slide collection so we could share them with everyone in the family. This was a good option, it worked well and I’m happy with the results. Did not take that long either. I plan to use them for our negatives too. The quality is acceptable. Easy to use and easy to transfer to PC. One word of warning: I had about 145 slides per carousel which I saved to one folder. They received numbered file names which started over at 100. So over 100 the numbers started back with 1 and added (2). This was annoying because it did not keep them in order. I ended up manually renaming many so they would stay in the correct order. It would have cost so much more to pay someone to do this so it was a great alternative. ... show more

  • Limit SD card to 32GB SDHC
Size: 128MB + 3 Slide Film Holder Trays
Does not work with larger SD cards. Instructions say up to128GB. Tried a 64GB SDXC Class 10 card without success. Stick with SDHC Class 4 which generally are limited to 32GB, i.e. requires FAT32 file structure.

  • Cheap, efficient, and worth it
Size: 128MB built-in memory
I finished scanning over 8,000 negatives (up to 35 years old), including one Black&White set of negatives. On the whole, this is a really awesome little gadget. It does all the basics, very efficiently, and with a very minimal learning curve. I managed to complete my scanning in less than 6 weeks, working basically on weekends (maybe 40-60 hours tops). It really beats having to scan your prints, using your home printer, at the rate of 3 minutes per print, assuming you have a decent copy of your prints. With this machine, it takes longer to get the negative out of its current location, identify the proper side, than to load it and make the digital copies. I have not tried any of the other similar products, so I'm not sure how they compare. What I've used: - Different negative types (mainly 35 mm, color & black&white, some 110, some 126) - it has all of the adapters - A perfect little dust brush to clean the interior glass surface on a regular basis (particularly if you own cats/dogs in the house). - The brightness setting for particularly under or over-exposed pictures. Keep in mind that it won't make the picture better, just lighter or darker. What you'll need: - an SD card to load your scanned images, which you'll then need transfer elsewhere A couple of things that could be improved: - With the included adapters, you can only scan the equivalent of a 4x6 ratio, which you can easily adjust horizontally (left or right) as you see fit, but which you cannot adjust vertically (top or bottom), meaning that it crops the top and bottom for you systematically. The only way around the vertical cropping is not to use the adapter and feed the negative without the adapter, at the risk of not positioning it quite right. I only did that for a few pictures. - It would have been nice to have a USB cable into your computer directly and skip having to scan the negative onto an intermediary SD card. I guess it was fine though, the SD card served as my backup until I copied the photos to alternate devices. However, the SD card adds on to the overall price of the project, but you can repurpose the card later. - The default color may not be perfect, although who knows whether it's the machine's fault, or the deterioration of the colors on the negative strip itself. I had a hard time using the feature without the original print for comparison. A few things to keep in mind: - If your negatives are in good shape, and were high quality to begin with, this machine will work beautifully. If your negatives are bad, no machine in the world will make them better. - If you need a poster size high-quality image, then you might consider taking those negatives to a professional. But for 4x6 prints, this machine is fine. For perfection, you'd have to invest in a much fancier, pricier and more time-consuming device. If you have the time and money, that would be ideal. In the meantime, this little machine is pretty nice. ... show more

  • Nothing special, but does the job
Size: 128MB built-in memory
We've been using this to scan old photo negatives for a couple months now, slowly working through our collection of old photos. It works quite well; easy to use, way cheaper than a mail-in photo scanning service, and good quality. You can easily see the film grain on scanned negatives if you zoom in, and I have no complaints about color accuracy, blurriness, or other image quality issues. As for the product overall, so far I only have a few minor complaints. The biggest one is that there doesn't appear to be any way to set the date on images as you scan them. This is a pain because it means we have to go back and forth, transferring images to the computer and setting their date there for each album we scan. It would be really hard to remember which pictures were taken on which dates if we scanned multiple items and had to fix them all at once later, and leaving an incorrect date set in the photo metadata would make organization a huge mess. (Imagine scrolling through your camera reel in Google Photos, and suddenly coming across 2000 pictures all on the same, incorrect date. That'd be super annoying.) Another issue is that the film adapter had some plastic ridges on the inside that kept getting caught on the (slightly bent) film as we scanned it, preventing us from inserting the strip more than a few inches. I was able to solve that by filing down the plastic in the offending areas, but it was an annoying design flaw nonetheless. Another thing to note is that this scanner does crop off small portions of the negatives as you scan them. It's not a big deal because you can see what's getting cropped off and adjust the position before you save the photo, but for those deeply concerned about preserving all available information that might be an issue. ... show more
