  • Fast and efficient
I am very pleased with this photo scanner. I bought it to scan a box of family photos and I expected it to take days, but with this scanner I was able to scan 1300+ photographs in just a few hours! The scanner feeds quickly at 300dpi and there is very little wait for how fast you can feed photos. The app is convenient and lets you nonstop feed photos into the scanner without the need to stop and the auto-crop and auto-deskew works flawlessly. If you have a giant pile of family photos to scan I can't recommend this product enough. ... show more

  • Simple to use and good value.
Set up was easy. It took about half an hour. Scans really fast and the scans seem to be accurate. The editing and restoration function are fairly straightforward but are kind of all or nothing. You can’t refine edits in most functions. File management is kind of a learning curve but not bad once you get the hang of it. A little organization and sorting up front really pays off. Once you have scanned a bunch of photos it is difficult to distribute them to multiple folders. The “drag and drop” function is pretty clunky. I was using a lap top. I recommend using a mouse instead of a touch pad. I expected to spend a couple of weeks scanning but got it mostly done in an afternoon. ... show more

  • Fast and easy
Pleasantly surprised at how easy this was to setup and use. I wanted to scan photos from albums both for posterity and for convenience to look at. In less than 15 minutes I was scanning. So far I've scanned over 500 photos and newspaper clippings along with some plastic laminated articles as well. Quality is pretty good even on the lower quality settings. I did try the higher quality setting and honestly it wasn't worth the wait as it's a bit slow. I suppose if I had something special, I might use it. I have a flatbed scanner that is very good at scanning items quality-wise, however it's not especially convenient or fast. This little scanner does exactly what I wanted it to do. Quickly and easily scan hundreds of photos and artifacts. I upload them to Google photos or you could use Amazon's services as well for safekeeping of your memories on film. ... show more

  • Great scanner
Bought this to assist in making a slideshow for my dad's funeral. I have a multifunction printer but the scanner is obviously not designed for scanning a bunch of photos quickly. With over 100 photos to scan I thought the time saved would be worth the money spent and I was right. This thing can basically scan photos as quick as you can feed them. It does a great job. Picture quality is great, the photos are centered and no extra white space or any further editing was necessary. I was even surprised to find a slideshow creator program built into the software. The software lets you arrange the photos in the order you want before you save them which is nice for creating a slideshow because then you can just import them already in order. The only things that could be improved is the software only lets you sort 50 photos at a time and the slideshow maker only allows a music file up to 5 minutes. For my dad's slideshow we had 100 photos and a roughly 9 minute song. Not sure why the limitation but if they can fix that it would get 5 stars. ... show more

  • Hundreds of photos in, works well and very quick on 300dpi, 600dpi about 10x slower.
Background: I have an older 4x6 photo flatbed scanner. My mother asked if I could scan some old photos. I said sure. She then drops off a box about 11" by 18" with thousands of photographs. There was no way I was going to even think about using my legacy flatbed for this. Details on unit: The z300 comes packaged well with a single page set-up instructional page. Power supply and an optical disk with the software. You may get the latest version 6.6.0.3 (at time of writing) from the company's website. I installed the software with no issues, then connected and turned on the printer when prompted by the software. This including the removal of the tape and protective material over the scanner reader. The Scanner supports 300dpi and I believe 600dpi optically as well. The software ephoto that comes with the scanner is very easy to use and I was scanning within minutes. There are very few setting options which some may like, I am more of a knob tweaker and would have liked a little more control. I was impressed with the automatic photo restoration and overall ease of use of the software along with the preset options for photo adjustment, correction and restoration. There is better specialized software for this which I may use on a handful of photos but overall I am very happy and surprised with the scanning quality, usability and speed. Very Cool: Unlike my old flatbed scanner and the other software I was using, the Plustek and ePhoto software will automatically scan a picture when placed on the scanner. This feature makes scanning hundreds or many thousands much quicker. Only Complaint: My only complaint thus far is that I only seem to be able to scan up to 50 pictures in a run and am then forced to stop and save the workspace. There is an option in preferences under the question mark, not the gear for settings to scan and save directly to a path, however for me this did not remove the 50 images before saving issue. Overall I would buy again and definitely giving 5 stars. The screenshot of the two photos are the same photo from 1976 what the pic looks like now, and then what it looks like with autocorrect in ephoto. ... show more
