I picked this pressure cooker because it lis like the one my mom used when I was growing up in France many years ago. I saw many meals prepared in that pressure cooker and it lasted for many many years. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but i didn't want them anyway because most of the time they end up breaking or just unnecessary. I wanted simple, easy and safe to use. I recently purchased a "brand new" MAGEFESA pressure cooker from Amazon, and I am utterly disgusted by the condition it arrived in. The product was clearly used and in an absolutely filthy state - covered in grime, food residue, and other unidentifiable substances. It did not even seal properly, rendering the pressure cooker completely useless. When I contacted MAGEFESA about this unacceptable situation, I was met with complete indifference and a complete lack of customer support. The representative I spoke to effectively told me that the company has no control over the condition their products arrive in when sold through Amazon. This is an absolutely appalling response and demonstrates a complete disregard for their customers. I was also informed me that the ONLY person who handles Magefesa USA is Philip... who is in Spain! Good luck getting a hold of him, let alone getting any real help. They said I could email him, which I did but never even got a reply. I emailed him three times over 9 days, which was over 3 weeks ago, crickets! Overall, this has been an absolutely dreadful experience. I would strongly caution anyone against purchasing any MAGEFESA products, as the quality and customer support appear to be completely unacceptable. Save yourself the hassle and find a more reputable brand that actually stands behind their products. Avoid MAGEFESA at all costs! You've been warned! ... show more

Apologies, there was something stuck under the lid which prevented it from shutting the whole way. Once I was able to remove that piece, it worked as designed. I have to add that you have to tighten the lid to the maximum possible limit to prevent any spillage/pressure loss. Adjusting the stars accordingly. Overall, it is a sturdy piece of equipment. ----------------------------------------- This thing is a piece of crap. After a few months now, it leaks water and cannot build up pressure no matter how much I tighten the lid. Save your money and buy something else. ... show more

This is my second purchase of this brand for different pressure cooker sizes. The big one I often use for canning. But sometimes I need to cook a small batch of beans or stews and i found the big one quite bulky for the little amount so i got this one. Happy!
