I have been coloring my hair for at least 35 years. Madison Reed hair color kit is the most well planned out, thoughtful, wonderful haircolor I could ever buy! There are 2 sets of gloves, cap, Barrier Cream, Cleaning Wipe and Shampoo, Conditioner for after washing out color. I’m about 75% grey so I use the full kit on my hair about once a month. Kit aside, the color is natural, shiny and deeply penetrating so I’m not looking at grey hair in 3 days like the other junk on the market. Just one small tip-be sure to open the shampoo and conditioner before you wash everything out because once you’re in the shower, ( at least my hands aren’t strong enough to crack open those packets). I have use this product for over two years and have never had one complaint. I hate to say it will work for everybody, but I do believe you’d be pleased. I used a lighter color on my best friend a while back, and she absolutely loves it too! I’ve always had very very dark hair so I use the 4N it comes out perfect every time! Love it!! It’s a bit pricey at 30.00 but to me worth every dime-beats spending $75 and more at a hairdresser!! Thank you Amazon for carrying such a great brand. When I use one box up, I order the next one right away!!

Red is the hardest color to keep looking fresh. Best hair color selection on the market, a complete kit with everything you need. Be careful though, sometimes the color reactor isn't very full. Be sure and squeeze every last drop of color from the tube too. These were some of the awesome results; condition of my hair was excellent afterwards, the longevity of the red, the well appointed kit and the silky shampoo and conditioner included. Great product found!

So this color is by FAR the best brown I have used. I have naturally brown with auburn hue so I always pull gold or red. This color does not do that, it gives me that true chocolate brown. So for that I am in love with it. But honestly it lasts about 2 weeks before your gray starts showing through. For the price that is a drag!!! But because of the color and not pulling red or gold. I order it over and over again. It is very easy to use and the smell does not make you gasp for fresh air. You really don't notice it. So that is a plus too, also they do not test on sweet animals. Thank you for that madison reed!! For all the positive reasons stated I will keep ordering, It just sucks its a 2 week thing.

I like that everything you need is in the package. Hair color is good, no odor, ammonia, etc. My hair is hard to cover (over 50% stubborn gray) My frustration in the past is hair color that fades or really doesn't cover what you are trying to cover (the roots). Not ready to go natural yet! The darkest mahogany brown color is just beautiful at a fraction of salon prices.

Color: 7NCG - Genova Red
I used Light Golden Red, &7NCG, Genova Red. On the package, the color looked like an exact match for my original hair color. (I have just enough grey, here & there throughout my hair, to want to cover it... for now, anyway. Vanity... right? lol ) I fell in love with Madison Reed's packaging and the thoughtfulness shown in this very complete hair color kit. The messaging in it dazzled me, as well. Using the product, I didn't care for the smell of it, but it wasn't nearly as bad as some ammonia-based hair color products. So far, so good. In addition, I was impressed by how much hair color was included. Even with long, thick hair, I was able to cover everything from the roots to the very longest tips of my hair, and do so completely. The included shampoo and conditioner were both lavish and generous. Again, as someone with very thick hair, this was appreciated. But then, fresh from the shower, I looked in the mirror. Umm... It looked like the color coverage wasn't consistent. Not even close. Worse, when my hair was dry, the color at the top of my head was spectacular, but starting at about ear level, the color was much darker. Indoors, it looks almost black. On someone as fair-skinned as me, the effect was jarring. Suddenly, every freckle and laugh line seemed more obvious. This was NOT flattering. Oddly, the ends of my hair barely took any color at all. That was fine, because naturally colored hair is usually lighter (sun bleached) at the ends. In the accompanying photo, my head is tilted, so I'm looking up. You're seeing the top of my head as well as my back. Also, that picture was taken on a slightly overcast day, so the variations in color aren't due to extreme lighting. It looks far worse indoors, but I think the photo conveys the essense of the problem. Note: It's been a few years since I was a hair model, but I picked up a lot of hair coloring tips from the pros. So, I'm still mindful of the importance of coloring my hair thoroughly and consistently, and following package directions - to the letter - for the best results. In other words, it's not as if I smothered the top of my head with hair dye, and just loosely spread the rest of my hair with far lighter coverage. Likewise, I didn't douse the middle (now darkest) band of my hair with extra color, or omit coloring the ends, either. To me, it looks like this hair color should not be used on long, previously colored hair. I'd ask for a refund if I had anything to return to the seller, but - of course - I used the complete package. So, at best, that was a waste of $30. I'm going to wait a week so my hair has time to recover, and then I'll be using an "oops!" products to remove the Madison Reed hair color. Fingers crossed, it'll restore how my hair looked before using Madison Reed's hair color. (If that doesn't work, Plan B is to streak my hair with blonde. At worst, it'll look "artsy.") I'll agree that the Madison Reed hair color at the top of my head looks exactly as I'd hoped. It's very close to the color shown on the product's packaging. The probem is: The rest of my hair looks awful. If your hair is short - and, preferably, has never been colored before - you may love Madison Reed. For me, this was an extremely distressing experience. Fortunately, I work at home. This week, only my family will see my hair. If I go out, I'll wear a hat. Then, my hair will look oddly dark with almost blonde sun-bleaching at the ends. Short-term, I'm okay with that. I was tempted to give this product two stars because the packaging was a delight to read, and the included gloves, cap, shampoo, and conditioner were wonderful extras. However, I'm so disappointed by the product itself, I have to give this one star, and share my experience with others, so they don't make a similar mistake.

I have an allergic reaction to an ingredient called PPD that is found in black hair dye and decided to give Madison Reeds 2NNA Prescara Darkest Black a try. My hair is already dark in color 1b but I frequently cover a few gray strands that appear. Normally I would use a semi permanent. I was excited to find a dye that was free of PPD. No allergic reaction as of yet. Will keep you posted!
