My cats love this door even my blind one can figure it out. Love the locking mechanism. Only catch is if you also have dogs and it's unlocked they can knock the flap off of it. It pops back into place but can be annoying.

I have one of these on my bedroom door so my cats can go in and out at night when the door is closed. I didn't think my cats would figure out how to use the flap, so I just left that off. My cats love having their own door. One of my cats will actually sit right outside the door and wait for me to close it before she will come into the room through "her door". My other cat loves to run down the hall and leap through the cat door like a tiger jumping through a flaming hoop! I had a handyman install the cat door for me and I didn't even know how to attach the flap, so when a friend who was allergic to cats stayed in that room for a few weeks, I had to tape a piece of cardboard over the hole to keep the cats from going in there. I would have been afraid to put a locked hard door there when it had always just been open (the cardboard would have been softer if my cat hit it at full speed, but he figured it out). I noticed that sometimes my cats will sit outside other doors in the house that don't have cat doors in them like they're thinking, "Where's my portal?" They do love it. I bought a second one for my office door so they can go in and out of there also.

Pros: cute door, not too bad to install but it's a 2 person job to hold one side while drilling the other. Cons: the opening is only about 2/3 of the dimensions. This gives my small cat about 4 in to crawl through. She will not do it. Also it's very hard to push through. There's no way she can do it. Once the opening is pushed through, the door doesn't come back all the way. Unfortunately this is an exterior door so I can't just take the flap off. I'm going to try to return it but not looking forward to having a giant hole in my wall to the outside until I can find a replacement.

I can’t keep the cats from knocking the door off the hinges every time they go in and out of it I cannot figure out how to remedy this

Excellent product and excellent price. Easy to install and operate. Though this is designed for doors, it can also be installed in drywall. I recently moved to a new home and wanted to give my cat a protected "safe space" from the little kids while also keeping his food, water, and litter box away from curious kiddos. Yes, the door is installed "backwards" because I don't want the kids locking the cat in/out of his space. Negative observation: The door allows for a 6 inch clearance for the cat when traveling from back to front (outside to inside when installed the "correct" way), but it only allows for a 4 inch clearance in the other direction. That's a huge issue for my cat as he can easily slip through the 6 inch clearance, but nearly gets stuck in the 4 inch clearance. Recommendations for buyers: The instructions have you measure for the base of the hole based on the bottom of your cat's belly, however, if you have a tall cat like I do, then that's a problem and forces the cat to stoop very low to go through. Question for the mfg: The door clearance discrepancy is because of the door hitting the outer enclosure. Is there a better way to hang the door or position the door to cut the difference?

This is about the best looking cat door around, so it was a great addition to my daughter’s bedroom door. The built in lining makes it work for solid or hollow doors, and it looks as good as the pictures when completed. Installation was easy with the provided template. It was a little frustrating getting the screws to align with their holes, but not terrible. I removed the door to do the cutting, and would recommend that extra step. That said, there’s sufficient overlap of the plastic frame versus the template that it would be pretty forgiving of a sloppy cut job. Highly recommended!

I was tired of constantly sleeping with the door open, and my cat always being on the wrong side of the door; so I took a chance on this product. I was not disappointed! As long as you have a drill, jigsaw, and screw driver; this is super easy to install. Just trace the pattern, cut, and make sure you don't screw it in too much. The door was sticking for the first day before I realized it was because I screwed it in so tight, the inner wall popped. Unscrewing it fixed the problem. My cat is trained to come for treats when I ring a bell, so only two days of encouragement and he figured it out. He's smart enough to paw the door to make sure it opens before bashing his head against it, so when we lock it, he knows to cry. My only recommendation is that I measured his belly, which is 7" off the ground, and that seemed a little high, so I cut an inch lower on the second door, and he struggles with that one less. As a note: my cat is a thin 9lbs, and slinks through with no problem. Overall, it's an attractive product that holds up to his fits when he's locked in the room (because we're eating, and he's a scavenger). I'm excited to show it off to all my friends!
