I had a large and heavy 52" ceiling fan that had minimal light output and unstable movement. This light attracted me due to its lightweight and versatile options to bring a room to more modern times. The low profile surface flush design makes it a great fit especially for half-story rooms with lower ceiling clearance. Installation is not difficult and I was able to do it myself, although having a helper is beneficial. You will want to check your existing junction box or mount, in my case the ceiling fixture lacked any true junction so I had to first rework that into a junction box, and from there was able to easily screw the fixture mount to it. The actual fixture then slides up and secures to four mounting screws. You will need to connect the white, black and ground wires as usual, and the fixture conveniently includes a tether that you can tie to the mount while working at it to avoid having to hold the entire fixture in one hand while connecting the wires. Once up and running there are many options adjustable from the remote control and the app. On the remote you have six different fan settings, temperature and brightness adjust, night mode and whether to toggle the amber ring toward the ceiling. You can also reverse the fan direction for winter/summer preparation. The app offers comparable settings but in somewhat more easily and quickly adjustable formats. You can use a slider to adjust the brightness or toggle other presets not available directly from the remote. One concern I always have is how long apps might remain on the market because if this app goes away, I'm unsure that there is any universal or open source alternative to control this device. I will add that one small frustration was that the remote control is not paired to the fan by default. This was especially complicated in my scenario because I have it in a room that does not have a dedicated light switch so relies on the light remote itself to turn on or off. This led to some chaos of having to turn the entire breakers on and off while trying to sync with the remote within 5 seconds of the lights powering up. The app was similar. It would make sense for the remote to be synced by default to avoid these complications. The light remote comes with a holder that can be screwed to a wall otherwise mounted for convenient storage. The brightness is plenty for a 10-15 by 15-20 foot room but can also be dimmed down to a soft glow for nighttime or ambience. The fan has a reasonable breeze considering the diameter and that the blades are straight downward, but you may want to compliment it with a floor fan for maximum circulation. ... show more

    • Pretty and modern ceiling fan alternative.
I ordered this to replace the large 52" ceiling fan in our family room. I really like the clean, modern, low profile design. The hubby was able to complete the installation quickly and easily. However, he is skilled when it comes to such matters or the lack of clear, detailed, easy to understand instructions could have been an issue. The fan does create good air flow, although it is mostly centered directly beneath the fan. The fan has six speeds, however, I feel like three would have probably worked best. It isn't very noisy on the first 3-4 speeds, but can become a little overbearing on the higher speeds. The remote and all the various settings did take a while to figure out, but does function well and is very convenient. There are various levels of brightness which is a nice feature. Overall, I am well satisfied with it and think it is a reasonable value for the money. ... show more

    • Looks Great, Functions Flawlessly, Easy Installation, Puts Out Air For Nearby Area Only
This low profile ceiling fan and light is a great idea that functions flawlessly, looks fantastic, and is very easy to install, especially in a standard round electrical ceiling box, even if the box is installed in a standard way. This fan light combo is so lightweight that it doesn’t require the ceiling box to be secured to the wood framing members the way a regular heavy ceiling fan would be. You’ll have a ton of fun learning how to use the remote control and all that it does, just don’t get upset like I did when you realize that you have to provide two AAA batteries to get the remote to work. There’s a wide array of light controls including dimming and warm to cool lighting, not to mention fan speeds and reversal. However, I did reduce my rating by one star for three reasons. One, the metal of the mounting plate and the fan housing are a tad thinner than I’d prefer, so I felt I had to be gentle but firm and kinda cautious when installing the unit. Two, though it has six fan speeds, you really only feel the “wind” in close proximity to the fan, and primarily when you’re directly underneath it. Also, beyond #4 speed, 5 & 6, the swishing noise is more than my ears and brain can handle. Three, the “upper” light is a neat idea but, it always turns on when you turn the light on from the wall switch, as opposed to only coming on when you turn it on with the remote. So if you don’t want the upper light on, you can only turn it off from the remote which can be annoying if you don’t have the remote handy, not uncommon when two distant wall switches control the fixture. Not a huge issue but something you discover after the fixture is installed. It’s an awesome unit that I definitely recommend, just don’t have too high of expectations of air flow. ... show more

Our Favorite Ceiling Fan Light. We absolutely love this ceiling fan light! We stumbled upon it one day and haven’t looked back. I chose this model because it’s app-compatible, which has been a lifesaver when the remote goes missing (though we haven’t needed it more than once so I can’t quite give much feedback there). With 6 settings {more than our old fan} it’s easy to find the perfect breeze. Plus, it remembers your last light setting, unlike our previous fan that always reset to full brightness.     • Looks nice, "memory" when powered off sucks
Biggest gripe is the unit will "remember" what settings it's on if you flip the wall switch powering it (ie, actually hard shut it off without using the included remote or dumb app) it ALWAYS starts up with the backlight ON. And the backlight is a very bright, and very orange. Up to you if that's annoying or not. Otherwise the light is very nice, color control is way better and more nuanced than youd expect (it's like 7 grades of both color and brightness?) and the fan is dead silent on the lowest speed, and while audible it's not loud on high and definitely not an intrusive noise at all.
