This works well so far and gives you the range of charge needed when you first hook it up, including whether you should bother since you have a dead battery. What I DON'T like are the terminal clip ends. They are curved and with too much plastic that is too close to the metal clamps. This makes it hard to get a good clamp on my motorcycle batteries and they pop loose multiple times before I can get them to stay. I've got another pair of clamps from an old charger that fit the plug end so I use those when dealing with my motorcycle batteries. I can't really rate "battery life" in the ratings since I don't know whether it's asking how this unit helps battery life or about the longevity of the battery charger itself. Dumb question at this early point in the usage anyway. Update: I bought a second one and have had ideal performance from both, maintaining batteries on a riding mower, a DR trimmer, a Honda GL1100, a Honda GL1800 and a Polaris 700 EFI ATV, sometimes leaving a trickle for 3+ months with no issues. Very satisfied on performance and my rank goes to 5 stars, despite the terrible plastic crap that impedes clamping to a battery terminal properly. Altering those plastic shrouds on the clamps helped make these great and that level of "protection" for folks who shouldn't be anywhere around a live electric circuit is burden to the rest of us.

This product is a good unit. Mounts easily with double stick adhesive on slanted surface in the boat storage area. Weighs very little. Delivers the correct amperage for a small unit. Waterproof for outdoor use.

When you need a trickle charger to keep your vehicle battery ready-to-go, it's important NOT to overcharge the battery which will reduce its operating life. A trickle charger that will do that is generically called a "smart charger" and this charger qualifies. I've used this charger to keep my diesel crawler tractor battery at full charge over the winter months when the tractor is out of service, and when it's time to bring the tractor out of hibernation in the spring, it's battery is at full charge and the engine starts instantly. I just bought a second charger for our flat-bed truck for the same reason. This charger will not bring a dead flat battery quickly back to life, but it will maintain the right charge over many months. I strongly recommend it for this purpose.

Why do they think having a complicated switch is helpful. Connect it to the power and dosen't do anything. Have to select to charge. Big deal, power goes out and it's just a lump that drains the battery.

4 of these on my batteries with trouble free accurate performance. Other brands have given me trouble with overcharging at float charge. these units have been working perfectly. Started with 2 chargers for many montha as a test, then purchased 2 more and monitor them each day with other equipment for accuracy. farming since 1980, so I gone through dozens of other name brand chargers that failed me and ruined batteries. Sofar, so good with these. very happy.
