My hair was a plum red purple and I was wanting to get rid of the unicorn colors so I used this color and it is a level 3 dark so if you want a level 4 find one that is a level 4 violet because this is a black brown violet. It looks dark but you can see the violet in low light and outside in the sun. It turned out even, even though I had highlights. So will use this again. Not sure if it fades or not but I will return with an update later in the week. I've been using Feria #40 for years now, and it's the best! First, I love the highlights! My hair is naturally dark brown, and this dye gives it gold highlights that look so pretty, especially in the sun. It also leaves my hair so soft and healthy, while eliminating the gray. Other dyes would dry out my hair, making it look dull and damaged. I do have to dye it again every month because the gray starts to show again, but it's a quick and easy process, so I don't mind. I purchased the crystal brown 60, hoping that it would have enough ash color to dye over partially bleached hair that was on the strawberry side of blonde. It does not, my hair came out bright auburn, basically ginger. Not at all what I wanted, but Féria dye is always consistent in treatments for sensitive hair without too much chemical processing, even if the color results are always full of too much red hair dye on my hair.
