Features

  • A safe and easy way to make kindling with no moving blade or sharpened object passing by your hands. The Log Splitter is a top-grade cast iron splitting head mounted inside of a 12in.H cast iron frame. To make a perfect piece of kindling, place a piece of firewood inside the iron safety ring and strike with a blunt instrument, such as a hammer, mallet or even another piece of wood.
  • To split a piece of wood, place it inside of the frame and strike it with a hammer. This drives the wood down onto the splitting wedge for a quick, easy split. There is no need to swing a sharp axe blade dangerously close to your hands. It s the perfect companion for your backyard stack of firewood, creating perfect kindling for your fireplace, fire pit, pizza oven, sauna, barbecue or smoker.
  • Kindling Splits firewood with less force than a standard axe. It consists of one solid piece of high-quality cast iron, so it s something that your grandkids grandkids will use to split their own kindling, if cared for and used correctly. The only maintenance it needs is a bit brushing off and maybe a touch of paint from time to time to look like new for generations. Create kindling for your campfire, wood stove, fireplace or pizza oven and you don't want to risk injury by using an axe.
  • Made of high-quality cast iron, 6.5 in. inside dia. top ring; 12 in. height. A safe and easy way to make kindling with no moving blade or sharpened object passing by your hands.

  • Better Than Expected - Perfect for Flexible Firewood Storage
I recently purchased this adjustable rack to hold my annual delivery of firewood and considering the price and performance so far, I'm happy with my purchase. If you're looking at this rack and contemplating the purchase like I was a few weeks ago, I'd say you can spend far more money and get a lesser product. The main points that ultimately sold me on this rack are its flexibility and ability to store the rack in my garage during warmer months. For example, the overall length of the rack can be adjusted based on the length of the materials you use for the base. I'm using a standard length 2x4 but you could go longer or fashion together several 2x4s to make the rack even longer. I wanted to keep the rack out of my backyard and close to my home so I set it up on my patio for the winter. Once Spring comes around, tearing the rack down is a very simple process and the metal bits are light enough to hang on my garage walls. Setup was a very easy process and while the product pictures might not depict the product as it comes in the box, you're actually getting tube steel that slides together and is held by bolts and fasteners in each leg. I can understand that this might be a turn off for some folks, again, consider the price. I spent hours pouring over different options but ultimately settled on this rack largely because at this price at least I wasn't going to make a costly mistake. I'm not familiar with all the woodsy terms - rack, cord, rake... it seems to me that everyone uses different terms to describe imperial units so I'll just stick with what I know. This firewood rack, using a pair of standard 8' 2x4's will easily support a stack 8' x 2' x 4' (L x W x H) or slightly taller. Additionally, I picked up a waterproof cover from Amazon and it works perfectly with this rack and the dimensions above - ShelterLogic Universal Full Length Cover . In short, if you're looking for an easy to assemble/tear down firewood rack without breaking the bank this is a fantastic option. Recommended! ... show more

  • I can make it as short or long as I need it
I edited my review 10/14/2019 The large wheels I originally used did not work because they were threaded with the original intent of being screwed into a large shelving unit. They were not long enough to thread through the 4" side of the 2x4. Eventually they just caved in. I replaced them with the red wheels you can see in the picture. I did not have screws with a large enough head so I used washers to make it work. Yes, you do see some old keys that I also used as washers. The unit is now quite stable but it doesn't move as easily. It would roll easiest with 4 swivel wheels. I have just one swivel wheel with a brake due to the high cost of wheels. I still love the convenience of the cart having wheels. I found the firewood rack to be quick to assemble including finding a scrap 2 x 4 and a piece of wood for a bed. I cut my 2 x 4's just under 3' because my scrap of 2 x 4 was just under 6'. It is the perfect size for my small basement. I made 2 modifications: 1. I added wheels so that my rack is movable. I bought 4 industrial 4" casters with bumpers for $21.98 before tax. They are in the Home Depot aisle with the shelving units. They have threaded stems and I drilled holes into the 2 x 4 and screwed the wheels in. In time, I'm sure they will wiggle but maybe not. I didn't need the bumpers but used them anyway. The maximum load with these wheels is 600 lb. 2. I found an old plank that is slightly wider than than 13". I left the width but cut it to length. Plywood would work just as well. I screwed 4 sheet rock screws through the plank and into the 2 x 4's. This stabilized the rack considerably. ... show more

  • Does The Job Well
Let me start by saying that I do not heat with wood nor rely on wood. I use the wood I get for camping and is stored for usually short periods. With that said, I was looking for a rack that would hold enough wood for a few camping trips each year and if I found a good buy, I could also store it. I was not sure if I wanted a 4 foot or an 8 foot rack as I wanted one big enough for present and future needs but not overkill. I saw this rack which is actually two end pieces and you use your own 2X4's for the length. You could go probably 3 feet on up to 8 feet, maybe longer, in length with this since you use your own wood for length. The rack came packaged well and protected well though I still ended up with quite a scratch on one of my pieces. I know, send it back. LOL. I did not take away any stars as if this is the biggest issue, I have it made. The assembly was about 10 minutes without reading instructions as it is pretty straight forward. Once assembled, I attached my ends to two 2X4's that are 4 feet long. I did go and put some wood we had on it and it seems to work well, should withstand quite an amount of weight and it seems be quite solid. In reality, the 2X4's will take probably 90% of weight as the ends basically hold it all in. The wood I have on hand was not much but plan to get some within next few days but see no forseeable problems. This Landmann rack should last for many years and with Amazon's pricing, I saved a lot and quite happy with this purchase. ... show more
