  • Perfect Cookware
Many years ago, hating some old cast iron skillets my parents gave me I threw them out. Everything I tried to cook on them stuck. They were nasty. They seemed to rust easily. Over the years I read about how good cooking with cast iron was. I decided to give it another chance but to try a NEW pan. I did some research and found Lodge. I liked what they said, their professionalism. The way they pre-season their cookware. I bought a pancake griddle and loved it. Recently decided to toss a coated pan for this very good 12" skillet. Got it today. Cooked an omelet in it. Very little stick to it (my error that). The taste seems better than a coated pan. Something about the simplicity of cast iron does it. I understand now that many people do not want to put a tiny bit of work into seasoning a ironware. It's like a hobby in which you slowly improve something that was great to begin with. The glass lid on this pan fits very nicely. Snug good balance to it. I highly recommend THIS and all other LODGE products. Now I wonder if they make a WOK... ;-) NOTE: This IS a very heavy pan but I do not believe you need to move it around much because the iron cooks very evenly. ... show more

  • Lodge Has The Best Cast Iron
Lodge Cast Iron is such a joy to cook in. The heavy-weight of each piece keeps it exactly where you placed it on the stove. It heats up evenly and everything you cook turns out exactly as you expect it to. This 12" pan is perfect for frying chicken, steaks, pork chops and fish without having to crowd the pieces into it.. And, the pre-seasoning means it's pretty much non-stick when you take it out of the box. ... show more

  • A Must-Have!
5 Stars!!! A great addition to our kitchen. Like all our Lodge cookware… you just can’t beat it. The 12" size is a must-have addition to your cast iron collection or the one size to have if you're just starting to cook with cast iron. The glass lid is incredibly light & durable and even oven safe to 400° F. The skillet is pre-seasoned, but it's always a good idea to give it a good rinse in hot water before the first use. If your order is shipped on behalf of Quiverr, you'll experience some of the very best customer service in the marketplace today. Great buy at a great price! I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Heavy Duty
I purchased this for daily cooking, not camp. So glass rid is good to see the conditions inside. It is heavier than I thought, so it is not good for Chinese food. But the eggs and bacon with spinach are cooked very well and tasty than tefron coated thin fly pan. I don't know the reason. maintenance are easy, wash by brush and hard sponge and heat well and coat by oil again. Not so difficult. ... show more

  • Love this Cast Iron
I've had this Cast Iron skillet for a few months now. Beside the pain of cleaning it, it has been a wonderful addition to my kitchen. The skillet is wonderful, and the glass lid just adds to the joy of cooking with this. I will be looking into getting more Cast Iron items for my kitchen, as this one has treated me so well. Once i finally started to make a true season, is when i started really enjoying this item. I made eggs the other day, and after i had a nice season.... it required almost no oil to cook those eggs and cleanup was almost non-existent . I'm now a believer of the Cast Iron world. ... show more

  • Oh how I've missed using cast iron.
I've loved Lodge cast iron for over 20 years...and I've kinda veered off the path for some time for easier non-stick skillets. But.....I'm back to my cast iron with the purchase of this 12" skillet with the tempered glass lid. Now, it states being "seasoned"...don't trust it. It's "kinda" seasoned, so be warned. First thing I did was cook a whole bunch of bacon/sausage in it and it has helped. Probably cook more bacon/sausage in the skillet and see how it goes. If it doesn't get a true "seasoning" like my other 10" skillet, then I'll have to strip it down and do a true oven seasoning. All in all.....I love the pan for it's size and the lid is wonderful!!! You can't beat the price and it'll last me for the rest of my life. I'm very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • It's a whole new way of cooking and thinking when it comes to Cast-Iron!
A little long. My new Cast-Iron Skillet is something I've wanted to have for years. I never did buy one until recently. I was talking with a friend the other day and told him I bought an Iron Skillet. He asked me if I bought a Lodge. I said yes! With a little research and the reading on my part of the reviews, I found out that Lodge is the better of skillets to buy. As well as my friend knew about Lodge. We are both men, although I'm single. The best thing I like about cooking with Cast-Iron is the skillet gets uniformly hot. And I might add stays hot for a while after you've taken away the heat. Cooking with a Cast Iron-skillet takes you into a different realm of frying, or baking. You have to remember the handle gets very hot, maybe as hot as the frying surface. No worries, you can buy the formed handle for the skillet, or do as I do. I have a couple Ove Gloves that are resistant to heat. Plus I bought the Lodge Lid which is dishwasher safe and made to withstand up to 400 degrees oven temp. I do have a dishwasher, but the Cast-Iron is much happier cleaning it by hand because of the seasoning as well as "Possible" rust. This again is no problem. There are cleaning products on the market to scrape away any foods that may be stuck. One added note, I did buy the cookbook knowing I was going to be using this skillet and wanted more knowledge. The cookbook helps you not only with cooking, but also how to season and take care of your new skillet. The cookbook I bought is "Cook's Country" Cook It In Cast Iron....Kitchen-Tested Recipes for the One Pan That Does It All. Yes you might have to do a little more work with a Cast-Iron skillet, but the overall results and usage these little guys bring is well worth the time spent using one. One last added note, when it comes to lifting a Cast-Iron skillet from the stove, there is some weight involved. That's the reason I'm big on the Ove Glove of today. You are able to use two hands freely without getting hung up with a dish towel or what have you. And just to think that's how our Grandma's and maybe our Grandpa's had to cook? It's a whole new way of thinking when it comes to cooking with Cast-Iron? ... show more
