I got rid of all my cast iron 20 yrs ago because the Glass top Stove manufacturer said, "no". Well, I've learned from others who use iron that it's not a problem, just use normal caution, don't slam heavy objects down on your stove top. I'm so happy I got back in the game, some much nicer, no more peeling "non-stick" coatings, no more of those lame "Ceramic" coatings that are now what the claim and no worries about scratching the surfaces. My fried eggs don't stick to the "non-stick (crappy)" pans cuz my iron cooks them perfectly. And I'm an outdoor, BBQ briquette person, but when in a hurry IRON makes a mean steak! ... show more

    • American made frontier ware. The glass cover matches my 19.3 Lodge cast iron pan.
Good deal, and priced moderately. It was a good deal, and “made in America”, not in China. I want my kids to inherit quality cookware when I finally short circuit.

I have some of my grandmother's cast iron that is over 100 years old that I use all the time. But when I buy new, I buy Lodge. Great quality product and USA made. They have enamel wear cast iron as well for those who need that option.

I decided to get into cast iron cooking lately. I didn't like cooking in it before, but thought I would try again. I'm really glad I did. I am super happy that I bought one with a lid and the silicone handle. It takes some practice and getting used to, but, I have made some great dishes so far. I downloaded lots of instructions of taking care of my cast iron pan and it is working very well. I have a glass top stove and I feel my burners cook too hot, so trial and error while using this pan (but, I'm getting there). I am looking forward to making lots of meals in this pan for years. ... show more

    • That Handle .. Otherwise it's Great!
The pan itself is an excellent deal and of good quality, it comes pre-seasoned although I'd recommend adding more layers, I added 4 more and I probably need a total of 8 to get it where it's not as much a nuisance to cook and clean. The Silicone handle cover is a welcomed add-on IF it had a longer and wider handle to attach to in the first place, but as-is the handle is too narrow and short so the experience is VERY UNSTABLE and worrisome of tipping and spilling your cooked contents all over the place. The glass cover is also a welcomed add-on and overall I have no complaints and only praise for its inclusion in this kit. ... show more
