Description

The Lodge Cast Iron 10.5-inch Square Grill pan and Red Silicone Hot Handle Holder is a multi-functional cookware that works wonders with slow-cooking recipes and all your favorite foods. This pre-seasoned grill pan works like a charm right out of the box. Cast iron creates superior heat retention, heats evenly, and loves a campfire, unlike flimsier pans. Saute, sear, fry, bake and stir fry to heart's content in this generous 10.5-inch pan that features two handles for heavy lifting. While the pan comes pre-seasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayed or lightly coated with vegetable oil before use. The Lodge seasoning procedure is a multiple-step process in which the seasoning oil is applied via an electrostatic spray system that coats the cookware, then it's baked in commercial ovens at very high temperatures. This allows the oil to penetrate deeply into the pores of the iron. This seasoning process achieves a seasoned finish that would take many months of home use to achieve.

  • Use this on my grill. Works great!!
I use this on my grill. Put it on and close the lid to let it get hot. Works great on food that you want to sear or char. When I get done I also oil the outside of it after I clean it so it doesn’t get rusty on me. Use a plastic scraper to clean it you can find them on amazon. Lodge makes the scrapers also. ... show more

  • Good old school panini press
If you don't mind the bit of extra work (heating pan on stove vs plugging in), this is a great pan to have. I like the fact you DON'T have to plug it in. The heavy press works perfectly on an English muffin or roll. It came with a special scraper that allows you to get between the ridges to clean the pan. Was delivered fairly well seasoned too, although we usually do a coating of oil after a cleaning. Well worth the price and effort. ... show more

  • Great but hard to clean
This is a great pan, we also got the searing top to use with it. It makes a great sear and it is fun to use! However, it is INCREDIBLY hard to clean. The plastic scrapers don't do the job fully, in fact I haven't found anything that does. My suggestions to make it as cleanable as possible: Use no oil in the cooking Use nothing with any sort of sauce (such as marinated chicken with a drippy marinade) Put some water in it when you are done and as soon as it is cool enough, scrape the heck out of it with those lodge scrapers that have the grooves Season it after every single use, but when done be sure to really wipe out all oil well. Do a deep seasoning (with it in the oven) as often as you can If you aren't afraid of a good scrub every time you use it, I would get this. It has such a nice 'grill' feel to it! But if you don't want to spend twice as long cleaning as you did cooking, then maybe consider something non stick. We decided to keep it and I'm happy with that choice (mostly). ... show more

  • Why Did We Wait?
We're now living in a no-grilling condo and miss our charcoal and gas grill cookouts. We took a chance on this cast iron pan but didn't have the highest of hopes. Pan fried steak isn't something we ever did. The pan is well made with no apparent defects, edges etc. Our first use was modest. I picked up some good quality ground beef at the butcher and made burgers. We were pleased beyond expectations. The pan seared good grill marks into the meat and created an excellent hot grilled taste. A+ for the first try. Second attempt was some choice sirloin steaks. These aren't as forgiving as burgers but again things turned out great. Another A+. We'll probably try boneless chicken breasts next followed by more beef, likely rib eye or tenderloin. Cleaning was as expected. It took a little work but not bad. We bought the Lodge silicon grill cleaners and they helped. If you're limited to cooking indoors, this is a great product and highly recommended. We cook on an electric glass top stove which wasn't a problem. Once the pan got to temperature, it was easy to keep it hot and do its work. ... show more

  • Another awesome product I should have purchased awhile ago.
We didn't "need" one but I really wanted one. And this particular one because it has the grill ridges. Bonus handle piece too ::thumbs up:: When I can't make it to the grill this is my go-to pan now. Grill marks and not having items directly over the heated surface is the way it needs to be done. I say not over direct heat because it has the ridges as compared to a flat cast iron skillet. Burgers in each are awesome I just prefer the grill over the flat. I really do my research because I prefer to buy things that will last and won't have to be replaced which is why I chose this product. We already know the brand is well established and has been producing quality products since they began. I've come to find that their price range is definitely best quality for the dollar. I'm not a professional cook I'm a guy that has a wife and we both love to cook.I use this on the grill, over a fire, on the stovetop and finished in the oven. It's cast iron. Just don't microwave it lol. For people that are looking for cast iron products for the first time I highly suggest this product. And of course those of us that are a little more seasoned with cast iron products already know that cleaning and caring for these items is very important. There are the basic steps you need to do to keep your pan in the best condition. However, I've not used cast iron before and it showed signs of surface rust and after a little cleaning and seasoning it's right back to new. Cast iron seems to be a little daunting when learning how to maintain them but it's more than simple once you have done it once or twice. So I highly suggest this product. ... show more

  • KO's Foreman like Ali...(sorry George)
I used both a Foreman and Cuisinart grill for several years (both of which I still have access to), and since I bought the Lodge grill pan, I haven't looked back. I use, and look forward to using, my Lodge at least 3 times a week - even making up reasons to grill foods that I never grilled before. The Lodge can take high heat from your stove, which results in very impressive char marks and very moist medium-rare steaks (regrettably I believe a Foreman grill seems to suffocate the meat due to the top grill, and it's more difficult to get temperature levels other than just "Well Done" in a closed sandwich-maker-type device). It's easy to see why the Lodge has been around for over a century: something so inexpensive yet so brutally effective. Cleanup is excellent, assuming you get both the Lodge Scraper AND the brush. The scraper has grooves which specifically match the grill pan's ridges, and it does a good "once-over" in breaking up char debris. You then use the brush to wipe away the remnants. I use Pam High Temperature "Let's Grill" spray to both season the pan after cleaning and before every grilling session: it has no calories and works well to keep food from sticking. ... show more
