Can't beat the cast iron. The cheap and chintzy aluminum boxes just don't hold up to the heat, and are almost impossible to reload with chips after they heat up. This one though, easy pop of the lid with tongs or mitt and you're in business. Provides plenty, plenty of smoke. Low and slow 225* then cover for an hour at 325*, perfect every time! I like to stick my cloves in a Ziploc baggie for a few hours then extract the cloves!

    • Looks like a skillet.....but it's not!
I have a small gas grill and wanted something to smoke chips to get nice taste. This is very durable, and plenty of vent holes to release the smoke. It is a typical Lodge cast iron skillet. If you take care of it it will last longer than you.

This Lodge product is a smoking machine when you put your wood chips of choice in it. Lots of smoke and flavors the food really well. I do wipe mine with a paper towel and vegetable oil after using, just like the rest of my many Lodge products.
