This beautiful work of art arrived in excellent shape, pre-seasoned, and I am beyond pleased with it. I washed it with warm water, dried it, applied a light coat of flaxseed oil, filled it with cornbread batter, and into the oven it went. Cleaning after the baking was easy, and the only problem I anticipate with owning this beautiful creation is who to leave it to in my will. The two short handles are a dream come true to me as long handles and my short arms don't always co-exist peacefully. I found it difficult to get good metrics on this item before purchase, so here they are: Accurate measurements for Lodge L10SKL 12-inch dual-handle cast Iron pan: Outside top diameter 12 1/8 inches. OD at handles:14 5/8 inches. OD at pour spouts:12 3/4 inches. Outside height:2 1/4 inches. Outside bottom diameter* (flat area between radii) about 9 1/2 inches..... Inside top diameter:11 3/4 inches; Inside bottom diameter (flat area between radii) 10 inches. Inside depth:2 inches. *The outside bottom diameter is included only because from my research it seems some folks cook on a flipped-over pan, although I have yet to see an example of this in practice. The 9 1/2" is what I consider the useful, flat surface that could in theory be cooked upon. ... show more

I have several pieces of Lodge cast iron, but this is my new favorite. Yes, it is heavy. But instead of a standard longer handle on one side and shorter handle on the other, it has the short handle on both sides. It makes it much easier for me to handle, and since I am Pretty serious about my cooking, I am not looking for a safe place for a long handle which seems to be always in the way. I love it. I use my cast iron in the oven, as well, and I love not having that annoying longer handle in my way. ... show more

    • It's a beast!
I bought this thing without real high expectations. It's a lot bigger than any other cast iron I've got and being a Lodge I knew the finish wasn't going to be great. I've been using a couple old Griswolds lately and the mirror finish on those older skillets is just incredible. I've had other Lodges and I knew that with some work and time the finish would improve and be more than functional but it would never get that glossy finish like the old stuff. When the package arrived I was impressed with how hefty it was. I started by sanding the inside surface with an orbital sander and some heavy grit sandpaper. The finish was incredibly rough. Without much effort though, maybe 10 or 15 minutes, it had improved markedly. I cleaned it up with some mild dishsoap and water and seasoned it with lard. I applied maybe 3 or 4 coats and let it rest over night. I'm very happy with the finished product. This has become my go to skillet for just about everything. The size isn't unmanageable and it's actually quite versatile. I can cook larger dishes or multiple things at once. I've used it as a baking sheet, skillet and warmer upper. I've used it on my glass top stove, on a camp fire, on my outdoor stove, and my BBQ grill. I think I'll probably end up getting a lid for it but otherwise it works great. ... show more

This pan has become my most used pan in the house. It is a great size for our family of six--any bigger and it really would be too bulky to store and quite heavy to wash. I use it on my glass top oven with no problem.

Great pan, especially for the price!! We used it to make Ratatouille and it was absolutely perfect!! The pan went right from the stove to the oven and then to the table. Make sure to dry on the stove or in the oven after washing and then coat with oil for storage. Would buy this again.

Arrived rusted and damaged fresh out the box which is unacceptable. I know these pans can rust over time because I researched how to clean them before I bought it but nothing should be arriving at anyone’s door already in this condition. It’s unprofessional. Now, I gotta make the time to complete a return or fight for my money back, clean it and just keep it. So not cool. ... show more

I turned the pan on to heat, turned to prep the meat, I heard a loud crash! Half the pan was upside down! My husband ran in, the half upside down wasn't even hot enough to need a glove! I was very lucky, this could have been a whole lot worse.!!
