I bought a Lodge 10-inch fry pan. Absolutely love it. I cooked a steak tonight and it was divine. I had 3 other ones and gave them away as they were too heavy. In an effort to eliminate nonstick cookware and any other cookware that can shed microscopic particles into food, I turned to cast iron. I bought this size and 2 smaller. All 3 are well-made and pre-seasoned. I have been amazed at how easy they are to clean. It is wonderful to be able to use metal utensils again while cooking and not worry about scratching. They do not take long to heat up on the stove (gas), and you can get some additional cooking time by turning off the burner and letting the heat of the skillet finish the job. Overall, I am very pleased with everything that I purchased from Lodge, and I urge you to buy Lodge, if you're considering cast iron. Lodge is the real deal and made in the USA. ... show more

Better style for me when sauteing as this pan design is more streamlined than the older straighter sided type skillets. The pan style is also a little less heavy and the handle configuration gives a better balance when lifting and shaking the pan during cooking. Another great Lodge product!

The size and shape of the pan is great, the heat distribution is good. I have almost a dozen cast iron pans and this one is great, only down side is the preseasoning is a joke. I heavily oiled the pan waited for the correct heat and fried some eggs. the eggs stuck like glue to the pan. Obviously the "preseasoning" is for looks only and does absolutely nothing to make the pan seasoned. I will go back to the standard routine of seasoning this pan in the oven. I'm sure with several seasonings the pan will get better and be able to used. ... show more

    • The perfect skillet for a small household
This is big enough for cooking for two empty-nesters, but small enough to fit into my Breville countertop oven for baking and broiling. The sloping sides and pouring lips make it easy to slip the contents out, and the grab handle lets me hold it with both arthritic hands. It comes pre-seasoned, but if you're not used to cast iron, it doesn't mean you can fry eggs or cook spaghetti sauce in it right away. Keep using it but cook fatty things in it like bacon, and don't wash it with soap until it's had time to build up a good slick, natural nonstick coating. ... show more

I really love this pan. I’ve been looking for something to cook eggs on that wasn’t non stick. It’s preseasoned, which is nice. Use a lower heat setting and let the pan warm up till it’s pretty hot. Then I add butter or you could use olive oil, and my eggs don’t stick. Used it to sear steaks, which I finish in the oven. It leaves a lovely seared crust. ... show more
