Features

  • YOUR GO-TO DUTCH OVEN: A flawless pairing of form and function that doesn't quit. The Lodge Dutch Oven not only makes your kitchen look good but is an enameled cast iron classic great for preparing and serving memorable meals. Broil, braise, bake or roast your favorite meals in the oven up to 500 Degree F.
  • WHAT IS PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON CAST IRON. It is glass that becomes bonded to the cast iron at high temperatures. A particulate of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 1400 F. The glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron, forming a bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables.
  • EASY TO COOK AND CLEAN: The porcelain enameled interior has a smooth finish that minimizes sticking, promotes caramelization and resists staining. Although enameled cast iron is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended to keep your Dutch Oven in tip top shape
  • HEAT RETENTION: The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating throughout both the bottom and sidewalls. The tightly fitting lid seals in moisture for scrumptious pot roast, stews or a large batch of beans. Our heat retention also reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking.
  • FAMILY OWNED SINCE 1896: Lodge has been a trusted family-owned brand since 1896. Made with non-toxic, PFOA & PTFE-free materials, this enameled Dutch oven reflects Lodges commitment to quality and environmental responsibility.

Description

This 6-Quart enamel Dutch oven is great for cooking, marinating, refrigeration and freezing. The color porcelain enamel on cast iron can be used on gas, electric, ceramic and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven. Not recommended for use on outdoor grills or over open outdoor flames. Not for use in microwaves. Lodge Color Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron cookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron. The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating bottom sidewalls and even the lid. Tightly fitting lid seals in moisture. The excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. Two layers of very hard, glossy porcelain enamel are chip resistant and easy to clean. Stainless steel lid knob is oven safe to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The black rim on the pot is matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron. Hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance. Made in China.

  • Great quality for a great price and an awesome look from an iconic brand
Color: Oyster White
I bought this as an affordable dutch oven for my sourdough baking project. Not knowing if I'd stick with it, I wanted a more budget version of my higher end French dutch oven. Looks wise, I love the vintage look of this and the antiqued color. Since dutch ovens get kinda beat up and water stained in the high heat oven, I kinda like the patina look. It's a perfect size for baking dutch oven but could also be used for soups, sauces, whatever. It stands up the heat and baking weekly with no issues. It is heavy as expected with cast iron, so no complaints there. Very easy to clean and no chips or scratches. Love. ... show more

  • Solid heavy duty pan
Color: Indigo
Wonderful pot for stews, sauces, soups and anything you can think of to cook in it. Pan and lid are solid and heavy which makes for more even cooking and heating. My husband loves this Dutch oven. Because the lid is heavy you need to be careful placing on pot.

  • So pretty and no problems so far.
Color: Cornflower Blue
It's heavy, but I expected that. It's gorgeous and I've cooked several things in it. I really like it. I appreciate that it has no toxic chemicals used in the manufacturing. That was important to me.

  • Excellent, solid Dutch oven
Color: Storm Blue
This is a great dutch oven, solid and roomy, heavy which shows that it holds a lot of heat. I love the colors!

  • Great Dutch Oven at a really great price.
Color: Island Spice Red
I purchased the Lodge 6 qt. enameled dutch oven in Island Spice Red. I bought it to replace a cheaper enameled dutch oven that I had received as a gift and which had discolored almost immediately when used. So far this dutch oven has not discolored - and I have used it almost 2 dozen times to make things such as soup, stews, tomato sauce and several pot roasts. I let the pot cool down and then hand wash it in hot soapy water, using only a nylon scrub brush or synthetic scouring pad to remove any of the stubborn areas. So far it looks just as it did when I took it out of the box. I usually use only wooden utensils when cooking in it as I know metal could scratch the surface - and I am sure over time scratches would lead to discoloration. As for the size....the 6 qt. is perfect for my needs. I have done meals for 4 or 5 people and it has always been ample enough to handle the job. When I make pot roast I usually do a 4 lb roast and it handles that plus the carrots and onions and potatoes just fine. Cooking it at a long slow braise (275 for 4 hours or so) everything comes out perfectly. As for clean-up, when I cooked my first pot roast, I opened the lid and it was heavily coated with caramelized cooking juices and quite darkly stained. I thought this was going to be the beginning of a long, intense scrubbing and cleaning session that would result in discoloration of the inside of the lid. After letting it cool, and using just a nylon scrub brush with plenty of soap and very minimal effort, it was completely clean and like new! I had also read reviews that were negative regarding the way the lid was manufactured, thus producing a gap between the pot and the lid, allowing for excess evaporation - which would be a problem with long slow braising in the oven. Later reviews said that this seemed to be fixed in newer product and I was very happy to see that it was no longer an issue. The seal is secure between the pot and the lid. I would recommend taking care when using it, as with any enamel ware, and use only wooden or silicon utensils whenever possible. Also, as the insert recommended, remember to lift the pot and not drag it across oven racks and burners (this requires some muscle when the pot is full) - so as not to scratch it. It has already become an invaluable piece of cookware in my kitchen, and with the proper care I am hopeful that it will remain as such. As for the being made in China and concerns about lead...I did quite a bit of research regarding the lead in cookware coming out of China and feel confident that Lodge is closely monitoring its production to insure the safety of its cookware. While I do wish it was not made in China, it is one of the main reasons it is not well over $200 dollars like other top brands and is the main reason I could afford it. If I am ever able to find a Le Creuset outlet where I can buy just such an item at a reasonable cost I would definitely do so - but for now I am very happy with my purchase of the Lodge Dutch Oven. ... show more

  • Worth a Few More $ for Made in the USA
Color: Blue
Considered a lower priced, imported enameled cast iron but concerns about the coating drew me to the Made in the USA Lodge brand. Still reasonably priced and worth just a few more $ for peace of mind. Perfect for Soup Sunday! Stunning color and top quality.

  • Delicate
Color: Lagoon
Beautiful and functional product. Easy to clean and cooks evenly. I would say it is a bit delicate. I did chip tiny spot on porcelain, while cleaning for the first time. I have not had any problems since and still functions perfectly. I cook soups, roasts, breads, and just about anything else in here. ... show more

  • Outstanding Quality
Color: Oyster White
Outstanding product. Cooks, browns, stews, evenly heats and beautiful finish. My daughter loves this birthday gift. The original cast lodge dutch oven that she uses will now be designated for grill and outside cooking.
