  • Nice heaters hampered by horrendous quality control
Style: Hammered Black powder coated finish
Bought four of these heater for a restaurant patio. Price for each unit at the time of purchase was $219.99 so these were close to the least expensive heaters of this type and size on Amazon. Needless to say, you definitely get what you pay for. Assembly of these things is a complete chore. The manfacturer decided to pre-install all the screws into each piece so you're forced to remove every single one of them before you can actually start assembling the unit; a huge waste of time and effort. On top of that, all four heaters had varying levels of visible damage and/or manufacturing errors straight out of the box. One had brackets so badly bent from the factory that I had to hammer and pry them into shape. Another was shipped with an incorrect side panel, and all four of them had significant dings in the heat deflector. Speaking of which, on three out of the four units, the top piece that mounts the heat deflector was not screwed together properly from the factory, so the heat deflector appears crooked instead of square with the heater itself. The directions aren't great but everything is pretty self explanatory. Other than that, they work. The heat output feels adequate and more than anything, they're very eye catching. One of the four heaters is a little tricky to start and operate on full blast because I suspect something is blocking the gas flow, but that might just be our tank for that unit. For the price I'd say these heaters were worth it. I wasn't expecting perfection and these certainly weren't perfect in terms of how god-awful the quality control and as a result, the assembly process were, but they get the job done. Hopefully they hold up in the long term. ... show more

  • Very easy setup and great quality
Style: Stainless Steel
After reading the assembly comments reviews, I am happy to say that my assembly was a breeze. The instructions were very, very easy and simply illustrated. I prefer this than having lots of unnecessary details that make things seem difficult and confusing. The only two things I would fix in the instructions manual is to specify that when installing the wheels, these assemble from the bottom, not the top. If put on top the holes won’t align for obvious reasons but the manual doesn’t show this been installed from the bottom of the base. Also disregard that adding the wheels would not allow it to sit flat, this will even out when the “legs” are added. I need to mention this because I analyze and seem to overthink as I assemble things lol. Also only thighten all screws in a section after all screws are in. This is Assembly 101 :). If screws are tightened before the section is completed, the holes won’t line up. This applies to any assembly of anything. The other thing is that the last 3 screws that attach the deflector to the unit are referred as M3/16. This is incorrect as they are actually thicker and are butterfly screws but this was easy to figure out as these were the last three screws left anyways and they were also thicker. I would recommend attaching the gas hose prior to attaching the control box to the unit to make sure the connection could be tighten appropriately and box don’t get in the way of the wrench or tools. Always do the gas leak check with soapy water. Lightning it up was super easy as well. After opening the propane gas tank valve, rotate the knob to the “light up” icon depicted by a flame and keep pressing it down for a few seconds. Keeps pressing the knob all the way down and push the red starter button until the pilot light lights up. Mine was immediate. After the pilot lights up, just so slightly release a bit pressure of the push button by letting come towards you so that is halfway pressed in and turn it to low or high. I haven’t had the opportunity to try it in the cold weather yet but I know these do not heat up as well as the mushrooms so I have been warned but I love the ambience it provides so for me it’s a good purchase :). Customer Service was fast, friendly and great too as I had a question as soon as it came out of the box. It was answered and even tips given. ... show more

  • Plan on assembly time
Style: Stainless Steel
Ok, so I'm going to start off by saying that after building two of these, I just ordered a third. Once assembled, these units are awesome! I'm 60 years old and have spent my whole life fixing and operating cars, trucks, airplanes, boats and all types of heavy equipment. I'm pretty handy. These units are a bitch to build! First of all, someone decided it would be a good idea to thread all of the fasteners into the parts instead of putting them in a plastic bag like EVERYONE else does. It's going to take 10-15 minutes to unscrew all the fasteners that will have to be re-screwed later. The assembly manual was, no doubt, written by some engineer who had never assembled and probably never had seen the finished unit. It will not go together as the manual shows, you had better be mechanically inclined, because you need to figure it out yourself. According to the manual, 16 of the fasteners have to be unscrewed and re-screwed twice! WTF! Make sure to wear heavy gloves as the cut edges of the stainless steel are sharper than a Gerber blade. Oh wait....the fasteners are so small that there is no way you can start them with gloves on. Be careful!! The heat deflector on top is covered in blue scratch protector that took 10-15 minutes to remove (tiny pieces of thin blue sticky stuff everywhere) The last peeve is that there were thousands of tiny pieces of white Styrofoam in both boxes. They went everywhere in my garage, it will take years to get rid of them. Other than that, the units are beautiful, heat well, and seem to be of high quality. ... show more

  • Two people and a magnetic philips head screwdriver!
Style: Stainless Steel
This took 90 minutes plus for my husband & I to put together. You have to unscrew many already fastened screws to place the proper pieces together. You have to have two people to put this together. Cannot be done alone. Don’t do this hangry and make sure you have patience. It is a nice heater and pretty to look at but I can’t say it gives off any more heat than the older models with the heat at the top of the unit. We kept our older model to provide additional heat. The plus is you feel the heat lower because it’s at seated height rather than high up. I don’t think I would recommend. If you’re planning on using this under an awning, be aware that it’s very tall and see the measurements. It’s about a foot taller than older models. ... show more
