Update: stopped working and became very rusty on the bottom I bought this for my six-year-old, who seems to be rushing through handwashing nowadays. The timer is for I think 20 seconds that he needs to scrub and the “beep” that it is over with is loud enough that I can hear it in the other room.     • Perfect for the classroom!
I was looking for a timer to teach the 20 second hand washing process that could get wet too. I’ve tried other kitchen timers before, but they always quit working after getting too much water on them. This was PERFECT for keeping track of hand washing time and students didn’t even have to tap it with their clean hands to turn it off - it made a sound and the lights go off.     • Great timer for brushing the teeth
I have three kids use it to brush their teeth. 20 seconds for the three sections on top then 20 seconds for the three sections on the bottom. It will equal the 2 minutes that is recommended by the dentist 👍

    • Amazing solution but not waterproof
This timer has been amazing for teaching my preschooler to wash her hands for the appropriate amount of time. At first I had trouble spending money on something that seemed so trivial, but she instantly took to it and has been diligent every time. Unfortunately it ran out of batteries and when I went to change them it was dripping from the underside. I dried it the best I could but even after that and new batteries the button won’t respond any more. I’m a little disappointed that a product that is (a) for toddlers, and (b) for use related to water is not waterproof, but I should have read the instructions closer and am still ordering another. It’s too valuable to be without! I’ll put in in a plastic bag this time, or try wall mounting with a 3M strip as other reviewers have suggested. Other than the non-waterproof aspect I think this product is brilliant and would recommend! ... show more

    • A smart purchase for preschool classroom
I use these timers in my preschool bathroom, and they work perfectly. The kids have been taught to scrub their hands until the blue light goes off and they may not always do it, but it works better than counting to twenty or singing a song. Also, I can hear the ending chime from inside the classroom, so I can tell if they've washed for long enough (like when they come out too early, or if I hear them getting paper towel before the chime). I put mine in ziplock bags, just in case they fall in the sink, but I don't know if it is necessary. We've used them for two months and the batteries seem to be going strong still. ... show more

My kids stopped singing while they wash their hands and I noticed they were washing for shorter and shorter time. They love this mashing the button when they go to wash their hands and not having to count how long they wash! It’s nice that it’s silent with a cute bubbly blue light and when the timer is up it beeps to let you know! I thought about getting them the music one but I thought that would end up getting on everyone’s nerves after a few days. We are all very happy with this one!     • Simple and effective
I really like this product, it is simple and effective use, all you need to do is push the button and start washing your hands and I’ll tell you when you’re done. The only way it could be improved is to have the battery installed already, and you just pull out a tab to activate it, because it can be difficult, trying to unscrew and open it, to put the battery in. ... show more
