  • Good bike rack.. made it better.. here's how
Just used this rack to take two e-bikes out camping. Perfect for larger tire bikes. Center pipe folds down, but with hooks on it make it a poor design as you cannot remove them and it is in the way to load bikes. Simple fix.. I drilled out the rivet that keeps you from removing the hooks. Now I remove the hooks, drop the pipe, load back bike, raise the pipe, put the long hook on, set the second bike, put on the small hook, tighten it all and you're done. It may void the warranty, but this eliminates a poor design and makes this bike rack THE BEST. I bought the more expensive version thinking I needed the tilting design to load the back bike, but with my fix I could have bought the less expensive one. Great rack, very sturdy and with a slight design improvement the easiest loading rack I have had. ... show more

  • Great Bike Rack! Great Bike Rack!
Easy to assemble the rack itself. We did have an issue with the bolt being stripped due to the awkward angle of getting the receiver into our hitch. Luckily our local Ace Hardware was able to rethread and get us on our way! Took the bikes out today for the first time. The rack is great! Very sturdy and put together well! So many straps and things that add extra security for our bikes. (Our bikes are E-Bikes and weigh 48 lbs each). Definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Great rack.
This is a sturdy duel bike rack that will last longer than the bikes. It would also work well for Motorcycles. While you can tightly clamp your bikes down and strap the tires in, you have no integrated locking mechanisms to the receiver or the bikes. There is no place to lock your bike to the rack or the host vehicle because length of the receiver mounting bar. The receiver pin was not long enough to use on my truck's hitch. A standard receiver pin works, but it allows more movement than I would prefer. For the money it's a reasonable solution but could be a lot better with just a couple more features. It is easy to load a heavy fat tire ebike, if you do it correctly. ... show more

  • 1500 Miles and Working Great 1500 Miles and Working Great
I have had it now for 6 months and about 1500 miles of transporting two 60# e-bikes and am very pleased. I use the anti-rattle pin and it holds the rack solidly in place. I bought a cheap ratchet wrench and socket which I store with the rack and I use it to tighten the bolt. Honestly, though, it is only needed for the last turn or so as I can run the bolt in 90% with my fingers. Some have complained about mounting the 34# rack in the receiver but I have no problem. I just leave it in the “folded up” position, grab it by the wheel supports and lift. The receiver tube sticks out horizontally and can be easily slid into the receiver. Trying to attach it in the folded-down position makes it much more difficult. When I purchased the rack I was concerned about reports of the bike frame clamps slipping and working their way up and allowing the bike to fall off. To date, this has been a non-issue as I have not had any clamp slip. I do make sure they are firmly tightened. But just for insurance I drilled holes above the clamped position and insert a padlock (see photos). Not only does this work as a fail-safe if the clamps would slip but also provides a method to secure the bikes from possible theft. It would be great if the bar came predrilled with a series of holes so a lock could easily be added. Our e-bikes are the step-through type so we needed to add crossbars to each bike (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ELSSZE) Normally these are used to hold the bike up but work just fine to hold it down. The racks hold down arms and then wraps over these rather than the frame. I will say loading 2 bikes requires some thought and experimentation to find the right positions and procedure. Because both frame hold downs are attached to the single pivoting arm things tend to get a little complex (hard to explain until you do it!). My answer was another minor modification. On the top side of the pivoting post there is a rivet inserted to prevent the arms from sliding completely off. I understand the idea but for me, it is a nuance. I simply drilled out the rivet and removed it. Now before I load the first bike I slide both arms completely off. With the pivoting arm setting flat, I position the first bike. I then move the pivoting arm up and slide the frame clamp down into position. The second bike is added and then the second frame clamp is added. When unloading the procedure is just reversed. It makes the process MUCH easier. But note – while removing the rivet makes absolutely no difference when the bikes are loaded, if no bikes are installed AND the rack is transported the clamps could work their way off and be lost. This can be prevented by just making sure the clamps are tightened as if they were holding the bikes. Another change I would like to see is to the anti-rattle bolt. If the end was not machined down as much it could accommodate a larger hole where the safety pin is inserted. Then a padlock could be installed in place of the pin allowing it to be locked to the vehicle. Still, I feel this is a nice bike rack for the price and I would not hesitate to buy it again if needed. ... show more

  • Sturdy bike rack
This Rack is sturdy, it hauls my electric fat tire bike with no problem. It was easy to put together. However has some problems. 1. It has a single knob that tights down the bike hook that holds your bike on the rack. This slides up and down on the bar standing upright for adjustment. However it slides while very tight and almost lost a $4,000 dollar bike if it wasn’t for the safety strap I put on. The hook has a very flimsy cushion to protect the bike well it wore through and scratched my bike, so much for protecting it. I will have to put a better cushion on the hook and drill a hole through the bracket and put in a removable pin so it can’t slide up. The rack folds up nicely and holds my 4.5” fat tire very well. ... show more

  • Good bike rack especially for the price.
I just bought an E-Bike that ways 75lbs. The bike is a “step through” so the standard style rack would not be appropriate due to the weight of the bike and absence of a cross bar. This rack was easy to assemble and assembly time was @ 1 hour including adjusting the rack to fit the my bike. The rack is probably heavier than the more expensive racks but it’s cost is a third of those racks. The bike rack is install on my 17’ Explorer Sport. There’s a 25mm bolt/pin that secures the rack to the 2” hitch. The pin eliminates rack rattle and the 25mm bolt adds extra security due to it’s size (make sure you have a 25mm box wrench) unless you have full access to the bolt, then a medium to large crescent wrench will work. A 25mm box wrench will not be found in the average tool box but can be purchased individually at most automotive parts stores (Harbor Freight) or Amazon. A standard hitch pin can also be used in its place. Just remove the hitch plate that comes with the rack. ... show more

  • Best price for what I have. Best price for what I have.
Got it for 2 fat tire beach ebikes. Rack is very sturdy and well made. I bought the wobble bracket for the hitch reciever as well. I recomend using 2 motorcycle tie downs for additional support/safety when traveling long distances.Believe me motorcycle tie downs will do the trick attached to bikes and then to actual hitch . Don't depend on what they give you or bungy cords. The bikes I have are folding bikes but I bought this rack to free up alot of room for other gear in the back of Tahoe. I like the rack alot and I hope it works well. ... show more

  • Does it's job and easy to use
First off I use this for regular bicycles not E-bikes. So I really can't attest to the weight rating. Assembly was easy and once it's on the vehicle raising and lowering it is very simple and easy. Holds bikes securely, I have read other reviews that said the hooks that slide down to hold the bikes come loose. I have not experienced this problem at all. I did use the included strap just in case but have never had one loosen. I only haul them 20 to 40 miles so oif your on a longer trip maybe check them just in case. Not the heaviest gauge of metal but plenty sturdy and still a manageable weight to lift and attach to vehicle. The velcro straps that go over the wheels are a bit fidgety and kind of a pain but again once I figured out a good way to get them on they do the job and again have never come loose. I use the rack for a salsa gravel bike and a trek commuter so again if you have a heavier E-bike this may not be the best review for you. I would recommend this product for regular bicycles. I'm sure there are better racks out there but not at this price. Happy cycling!!!! ... show more
