Style: Quick Release Bike Rack
The Leader accessories 2 bike rack I recently purchased is very well designed. I have installed it on my Toyota Tacoma truck and I love it. I plan to order a 7” hitch extender just to give a little more room to stand between the rack and the tailgate when let down. I show a picture where I have installed a 12” extender just for illustration. The rack is a little further back than needed though with the 12 inch. An extender can be used if there is any interference between that top square post and the tailgate of any brand, or model of truck, making this rack compatible with just about any vehicle. It has a feature where the rack can be tilted back for additional space to access the rear. One thing to note on the assembly is that the large bolt going through the pivot point where the rack tilts, will need to be torqued down a lot. Mine was wobbly at first before I found this bolt must be tightened securely to get the side to side play out. Once tightened the operation is very smooth. This rack also clicks up in a vertical position when not being used. I also easily found that if I am only hauling one bike there are three structural assemblies that can be easily removed, further simplifying the rack assembly and reducing its weight, making uninstalling, and reinstalling even easier. This brand also has a four bike version if needed. I can’t find anything I don’t like, so I highly recommend this brand and style of bike rack. Easy to put together and works great bikes don’t move at all. I put 2 wide tire E-bikes on it and they don’t move. A great product and a great price.

I cannot stress enough to look elsewhere for a carrier for your electric bike! My husband and I purchased two bikes from Electric Bike Company, both are under the max weight limit for this carrier. On the EBC website they suggest a carrier that looks exactly like this one (HOLLYWOOD BIKE RACK) and it’s more expensive. Wish I would have gone with their recommendation! I would not have a very damaged bike now. Our first time using the Leader carrier the arm holding the bike on the outside came loose and very quickly migrated up, leaving nothing to hold the bike frame to the carrier. Fortunately the straps held the wheels so the bike didn’t completely fall off on the freeway. However, there was considerable damage to the bike as we had to get off to the side of the freeway with it dragging on the ground. Sad part is my husband mentioned as we were loading it that we should put moving straps on it as he didn’t feel it was enough holding the bikes down. After checking to make sure everything was sturdy and tightened down, I told him it wasn’t necessary as this carrier had such great reviews. Bad choice!! Note: there were 3 of us checking to make sure everything was tight and secure before we left!! This was NOT USER ERROR!!! Spend the extra money for a better bike carrier...especially if you have a bike you don’t have to get damaged/fall off. On the upside, one of the straps waited until we pulled off to the side of the freeway to break! Can’t imagine what would have happened had the bike fallen off completely on the freeway! Zero customer service as well! Reached out to Leader...never heard back from them, not a word!

I will write this review for people who intend to buy this bike rack and secondly for those who already own this rack. Just to let you know I own a Rad Rover 5 Electric Bike with fat tires. 1. People who want to buy this rack and own a heavy electric mountain bike need to know this is a very sturdy bike rack but has an issue with its locking. On a bumpy road the clamp slowly goes up and eventually your bike will fall. Straps are not very strong to hold an electric bike. Please consider this negative before you buy. This probably does not apply if you have a lighter mountain bike. Ask the company to provide you a solution for locking. 2. People who already bought this bike should drill a hole on center bar right above where rubber grip holds on to the bicycle frame. Best way to do it is to tighten your bike on the rack and then use a drill the hole. You can get a "Universal Clevis Pin" with holes and a "Clevis Pin" which are easily available at Home Depot or any other hardware store. Secure your bike and avoid what happened to me. I spent lot of money and time to get my electric bike repaired and to be honest I should have returned this rack after the incident. But I kept this rack with slight modification and now it is fine. I hope my review will help some..........

I exchanged a cheaper rack for this one. The cheaper rack was not as described so didn't fit my ebike fat tires. This rack is exactly what I wanted, and more. My ebike weighs 56 pounds, so I use only one pair of the tire cradles. The S-curved neck of the rack provides suitable ground clearance, yet not too high for lifting the bike into the cradles. Assembly was surprisingly simple after I viewed the YouTube video. It advises building the rack directly onto the hitch-receiver. That made it so much easier - no heavy lifting or awkward angles! My ebike is big, but I am able to load it by myself: I lower the central support bar, then lift first the front tire then the back tire onto the rack, then raise the support bar into place. The padded hook adjusts to secure at the crossbar. I locked the bike and battened it with the included straps and drove 500 miles in one day (San Diego to Sacramento). No rattles, no problems! And yes, it does fold down with the bike on it and folds up when not in use. Storing it requires a bit of space unless you disassemble some. So happy with this purchase!
