  • Powerful
Works great. Powerful. Light weight makes it very easy to use and store. Great for smaller trimmings. Nice mulch. Low noise.

  • Good quality, great purchase
My expectations for a $130 chipper were exceeded with this purchase. I found it very satisfying to use. Turned what had been a huge mess of fruit tree branches and a dead, cut up tree into nice chips for the garden. Worked equally well with both dead branches and freshly trimmed “green” branches. Only jammed a few times due to pushing the diameter limits a bit too far, but it is very easy to clear any jams. Twigs that are especially thin, such as what you find at the end of a branch, do not chop up as small as larger branches will, but it’s not a big deal if you’re composting or using as garden mulch. I don’t mind, at least. A tip on assembly: put the wheel components through the holes as described in the instructions *before* fastening what they call the “chassis” onto the unit. You’re welcome. ... show more

  • Outstanding value!.....if kept within it's limits.
This is not a conventional woodchipper by any stretch. If that's what your seeking, look elsewhere. If you are looking for an easy-to-use, cost-effective method of recycling your garden prunings/greenwaste, however, this is your machine! I use it to make mulch for my garden, and it works great, so long as you operate it within it's limits. Try to push it beyond it's written specifications, and performance takes a nose dive. One pitfall that isn't mentioned in the instructions, which i learned the hard way, is that it fairs very poorly against cured hardwood, even within its specifications. The blades are quickly dulled to the point of inoperability. Fortunately, it's very easy to pull out the blades and give them a good sharpening. The only inherent drawback, in my opinion, is the size of the chippings. They're more akin to coarse sawdust than stereotypical woodchips, but still useable for my purposes. ... show more

  • Great Bargain Product for the Yard
This is my first wood chipper, and I specifically chose an electric model over gas for the sake of ease - no spark plugs, no old gas to deal with, and much less maintenance overall. The LawnMaster chipper handles branches up to 1.8 inches in diameter, and for the most part, it chewed through anything I could fit into the chute without issue. As with any tool like this, there’s a bit of a learning curve. If the wood is overly knotty or right at the upper size limit, you're probably better off not forcing it. But for general pruning—tree limbs, brush, and yard waste—it performs beautifully. The few pieces that were too large or dense made up such a small percentage that I just set them aside. One thing to keep in mind: you’ll want to stay on top of emptying the collection bag as mulch builds up. If the bag gets too full, it can back up into the blades and cause a jam. That said, even when this happened, it only took a minute to unplug the machine, open it up, clear the material, and get back to work. Occasionally a piece would lodge sideways and block the chute, but again, clearing it was fast and easy - just unplug, open, remove, and close. For most homeowners, this will more than meet your needs. It’s compact, light enough to move around the yard, and surprisingly capable. At $139.99 plus tax, it's excellent value. Replacement blades are inexpensive too—I ordered a set just in case, but based on how well it’s held up so far, I doubt I’ll need them anytime soon. Honestly, the cost of replacement blades is so low it’s not even worth trying to sharpen them. ... show more

  • This does NOT WORK FOR LEAVES! Vibration of machine causes screws to loosen.
ADD: The vibration of the machine actually loosened the screws causing two to fall out after about a 3 minute run time. We all pretty much understand "tightening without over tightening" and I did that. Turned that wrench until it was snug and hit certain resistance, but not further so as not to crack anything. 2 out of 4 bolts fell out. I was baffled when I found one missing. I tightened the others again and started the machine up again and watched another bolt shake loose. Still have not found the first one. So use you best judgment. Overtightened bolts or glue or tape them on or something. I am now missing a bolt. Probably need some duct tape on that leg. Dropped review down a star because vibration of machine loosens bolts. I can't use this. Reviews said it was good for leaves, which is why I got it. The hole to put stuff in is so small it will only take a handful of leaves at a time. Even then part of the handful of leaves blows away or falls leaving more on the ground than in the shredder. Justy makes a big mess with no results. Better off with the lawn mower. I deeply regret this purchase and have no use for it whatsoever. Expensive mistake. Wish I could return it, but I assembled it and tested it. Other reviews said good for leaves and I believed that. As far as the machine in general, hard to rate because I cannot use it at all. I ran a stick through it and it seemed to work well for that. So I would say good for shredding sticks. I just do not need to shred sticks. If you have a need to shred a lot of sticks I think this product would work well for you. Hard to rate. 4 stars I guess because it does seem to shred sticks. ... show more

  • Beast mode
Really happy with this product, was on the fence because I just cut down apple, peach and aspens. It works on dry and fresh wood. The trees I took down were 12 inch in diameter and i was able to chip down 80 percent of the tree. The rest I will dry and use a table saw to trim down for extra lumber for projects around the house. You can also get the leaves in too, takes time because of the safety opening but mulches dry leaves and left over garden stocks. Not a cheap product at all. Very sturdy and is great for all the gardening I need to do. Excellent addition to the garden tools. Keep in mind takes time because the opening is small. Takes time to trim all the branches down to size. ... show more
