The media could not be loaded. This LawnMaster FD1503 electric wood chipper does a great job on 1 inch branches and smaller. It can do up to 1.75 inch branches, but I found it jammed occasionally with the larger branches. When it jams, the motor cuts out and you can simply hit the reset button and start again. The smaller branches will self feed into the chipper, while i had to slowly feed the larger branches in by hand. You must assemble the legs and wheels. It was easy. Make sure you put the washers next to the wheels on the inside. It comes with the tools needed to assemble and change blades…however, it does not have any onboard storage for the tools. Bummer. Overall, I’m quite happy with the chipper so far, though I still need to do something with my 2 inch branches and bigger. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This chipper has a small footprint, but it really does a pretty good job of breaking down lightweight branches. Assembly took about 30 minutes between reading the booklet and putting it together. There wasn’t anything particularly daunting about it. The instructions were clear and thorough. There’s a twist knob on the back that looks a bit like a gas tank. This is where you can open up the chipper to access the blade and motor mechanism. I shouldn’t have to say this, but please turn off the chipper and unplug it FIRST. Seriously - my brother lost the tip of a finger back in the 80’s when he didn’t turn off the lawnmower. You feed the branches into the top slot, which has a protective rubber flap. Pay attention to the recommended diameter, and keep your hands out of the way. During one of the feeds, a branch whipped around and smacked my hand. Included is a plastic paddle with a short handle to help direct the branches. The chipper works at a good clip. We were able to fill the bag in about 5 or so minutes of constant feeding. The chips are very small, as you can see in my photos. I prefer a larger end product for my top mulch, but this still makes for a great base layer. So to that point, you’ll save money. The smaller chips are also ideal as a fire starter or compost.     • A good surprise for it's size. It works well.
I was pleasantly surprised how easy this wood chipper was to start and use. It doesn't have the capacity to do very large branches but every branch that fit in the opening hole was chipped up very quickly. I used it for about an hour straight and didn't have a single jam or problem. I emptied the discharge bag five times ad filled up a 55 gallon trash cash pretty quick. The chips were small and thin but also generally uniform in size. The unit seem cheap when I was putting it together but it was sturdy and stayed still during operation. It does kind of grab the limb and suck it down so quick that you don't want to hold the limb without gloves. ... show more
