This scan tool is perfect for a mid level technician or extreme DIYer. I bought this tool to use both at work, professionally, and at home for personal vehicles, and for side work and I work on all types of vehicles from Hondas to Mercedes. So far, I have enjoyed using this tool for all three of those things. It is easy to set up, easy to use, and has regular updates. It has done every service light and parking break reset light that I have needed. The Launch tool is durable and comes with a nice carry case and a TPMS tool which has been useful. The customer service from Kingbolem is also very good and responsive.

I bought this scanner to diagnose an ABS/Stabilitrak issue on a Chevy Equinox that another scanner I own couldn't read. I also hooked it up to my friends Dodge Ram and Dodge Journey. The scanner was able to auto-detect all 3 vehicles once plugged in. The initial scan took longer than I anticipated, but was very easy to perform and it stored reports of what was found. I haven't had a chance to try any of the advanced functions yet, but so far am impressed with the scanner's abilities given the price compared to more expensive brands. 4 stars for now, but may change once I use the other functions.

I was kind of skeptical at first as I did read some harsh reviews for this product. I wanted to get an OBD2 unit as the warranty on my 2015 Ram 1500 expired, and the infamous check engine light appeared. I took my truck to the dealer where they charged me $125.00 to diagnose the check engine light, and then tell me that the fault was a $450 part (fuel sensor with fuel rail). Immediately following this event, another car in the household had its check engine light come on (2012 Volvo). It cost another $125.00 diagnose the problem which resulted in changing the oxygen sensor. I finally said to myself, it is time to get on of these scanners as I do most of my own repairs. after careful consideration (between the Foxwell NT644 Elite and the Launch CRP 129E), I ordered the Launch CRP 129E. I think some of the other reviews that mention trouble updating may be due to spotty WiFi, because mine updated very quickly. I then played with it by connecting to my truck, a 2016 Jeep Cherokee, and a 2012 Volvo S60. The tool would quickly connect to each car automatically, and provide the diagnostic report as pictured. I also dabbled with the other sections such as ABS, and the unit performed quickly and satisfactorily. Now I feel like hooking it up to everyone's car in the neighborhood as I want to see more of what it can do. Right now, I am very pleased with the unit and would recommend its purchase to anyone that is looking to bug an OBD2 scanner. Aloha!

This thing is super amazing! Has all kind of built-in software. Not only is it the top of the line bi-directional scan tool, it is also a tablet so once connected to the internet, you can then click on codes which will then automatically Google. Search it and pull up a YouTube video if you’d like for repairs which is really cool too because then you can sync your business email to it. That way all my work emails related to car work come to this tablet thing so I can check work emails while fixing a car and putting my Subaru into diagnostic mode or service mode or fixing brakes or whatever way more than I thought it was going to be. I wasn’t expecting it to be a mini laptop computer. It feels really solid and really rugged. It’s just a beautiful machine.

Bought in April 2025 during one of the limited time mark downs for $195 (reg price $258). The unit is really impressive but the advertising flawed. The scanner can 'support' make specific codes and resets for 100's of cars. The advertising gives the impression that all of these features are included with the purchase. This seems to be the case with all the 3 or 4 sellers on Amazon offering this scanner. However, while it does have a lot of car specific features, some features are not included with the scanner out of the box. For example, if you want to scan for TPMS problems or reset the codes on a Toyota, you need to pay an extra fee to download the special features and codes specific for Toyota first. Then as an extra thing to keep in mid, that download is only usable for 12 months. ----- The scanner itself seems to be well built and has a solid feel. It has a rubberish outer coating and can probably survive most drops from 3-4 feet. The OBD2 cable detaches for storage, which is nice. It comes with a case and a USB-C for charging. The docs are helpful to get up and running but not of much use once you get into advanced functions. The software seems stable and the menus are pretty easy to navigate. It has built in DTC code look up (which is included). It's wifi capable for system and generic OBD2 updates as well as downloading any rented make specific features. ----- I believe this is actually a very capable tool, but having a subscription model to operate at full potential seems to be more for geared for a commercial business and not the average DIY home mechanic. I have bought a different (and cheaper) Launch scanner that is bi-directional and is specific to the make of my cars and actually has all the special modules already included. I'll be returning the crp129i. 3 stars for misleading advertising and not the item itself.
