The directions are terrible but this is a great cage for my pet rat. It took less than an hour to fully assemble it even with the worst directions possible. We covered the grates with towels to keep his paws safe and more comfortable for him, but Buddy is so happy in his new home.     • Really great cage for the price!
I was very surprised with how well this cage is made - especially for the price. I would consider this a dupe critter nation. It’s smaller than the popular brand but I wasn’t wanting one that large anyways. Pay attention to the measurements before purchase just in case you are looking for something that large. The bar spacing is good for older pet rats like our girls are (between 6-8 months old). I think our 8 week olds would slip through but in a couple of weeks I think they’d be able to fit just fine. Something I did not comprehend before the purchase was that the doors on each level only open up on the right. So you won’t have open access to everything in the care. You’ll have to reach around to place things in. I also took the advice from someone else who left a review and bought corrugated board from Michaels for the bottom so our rats weren’t walking on the grids. If this company were to make optional pans or little bins that fit into the cage for purchase I’d gladly buy them as an upgrade. Our girls are used to having a large litter pan so I’ve had to create some using storable bins and containers from the Dollar Tree. I do wish that the bottom of the cage had some solid height to make it easier to create that for them (again some bins or trays). I’ve thought about using plexiglass and attaching to the doors and sides to fix that issue but due to the doors only opening on one side I’m not sure I can do it now that it’s together and they are inside of it. The locks are something I was surprised that I liked. I’ve had a critter nation for rats before (about 8 years ago) and I struggle with pinching the locks together. My hands are small, and due to years of typing, crafting I do have carpel tunnel and tendinitis in my hands. This cage doesn’t give me the same issues as the critter nation does. I just make sure to give the doors a little tug when I lock them just to make sure they are in place. The shelves and ramps could easily be removed if you don’t want them in the cage. Makes more room for toys and other things someone may want to add. I’m not sure about the grid in the middle of the cage as my husband put it together for me while I was away. All in all, I’m very happy with the price, the size, and the quality of the item. I may purchase another one in the future if we end up with more critters. ... show more

    • Great cage — terrible instructions
I absolutely love this ferret cage, but the instructions are honestly horrible. They’re confusing, unclear, and not very helpful at all. I ended up figuring most of it out by looking at the picture and using common sense. That said — once it’s put together, the cage is AMAZING. It’s sturdy, roomy, and feels really well built. Plenty of space for my ferret to climb, play, and relax, and it’s easy to clean once assembled. Doors open smoothly and everything feels secure. So yes, the instructions are frustrating — but the cage itself is 100% worth it. Don’t let the assembly scare you off. The end result is a fantastic home for your ferret. ... show more

To start, this cage is an awesome value. I looked over many, many different cages and styles. All the ones at the petstore and other local shops were ridiculously overpriced, pushing past 200$ for an inadequate, tiny cage. This cage is under 150$ and has 2 main levels, with four total levels to climb on. It comes with a large food dish, a small water bottle, a cute hammock, custom fleecies for each ladder and resting area, and everything needed to put the cage together. The only drawback is that the instructions are terrible. WHEN PUTTING THIS TOGETHER- Ignore the instructions about connecting 2 rods to put together the base. They don't exist. There is only smaller bars needed for the upper level of the cage. There is a grate with two thicker ends that goes in this area, instead. It took me about 2 hours to put this together, take it apart to change things, and finally get it all set up. Make sure to pay attention to the small details from the picture of the front of the pamphlet to save yourself some time.. such as where the "swivel" latch should be located, where the opening between the two levels should be located, etc. Other than the Ikea-esque instructions, I love this setup. It is sturdy, looks like it will be easy to clean, comes with accessories, and my ferret has a blast running up and down through her "house". ... show more

    • Not enough vertical support on the side panels for the grade wire used.
The sides are super flimsy - my rats quickly figured out to push the wires apart and we went from small cages to upgraded deluxe accommodations with nightly Rat Raves in one fell swoop. To their credit, after a night of destruction they would all return to the cage in the morning to snooze all day and repeat again. Way overpriced for the poor quality. ... show more
