  • Landworks Wood Chipper 15 amps
First off the packaging was awful. The machine was not very secure in the box. Fortunately it came out unscathed. My second issue is that it was missing two washers and two bushings so I had to put it together without some parts that were supposed to come in the package. The washers and screws that I did get with it were just lose in the box so I imagine the bushings and other washers may have been in the package, but fell out somewhere in the delivery process. The box was not well taped so there were some places where small parts that were lose in the box easily could have fell out. That's definitely something I would recommend to the seller. Bag all the parts and pieces up and put them somewhere where they can not get lose or lost. Another issue I had was the directions and manual that came with it. The manual had items listed incorrectly with their corresponding numbers and the directions were terrible. Fortunately the build was pretty easy so I didn't have an issue putting it together myself, but my point was the directions were certainly no help. As for the product itself, it's built pretty cheap with mostly cheap plastic, but you get what you pay for. There's a reason why it's the cheapest price of its kind. I also think a 15 amp machine should come with a 3 prong plug so it can be grounded. Not a huge deal, but it does add a slight element of danger. I'm guessing it was made overseas so this isn't surprising. Also, it doesn't chip/shred a 1.5" diameter branch. Maybe if you babied it and took 5 minutes to guide the branch through it could do 1.5", but it isn't doing it without some manipulation. I pretty much figured this would be the case before I bought the machine so I'm not overly upset about it. It handles 1" and less branches well, but it's best to remove any side twigs on the branches and it's also best to find as straight of branches as you can. I mostly bought it for 1" or less straight-ish branches anyway so I'm fine with it. Finally, I'm actually pretty impressed with the chips/mulch that it puts out. The chips come out small and even sized. I bought it to chip branches to put in compost and for mulching so the quality of chips and mulch that it produces is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. All and all you get what you pay for. Don't expect to grind big branches or logs, but it's good for most little branches and twigs. I'm guessing I will have to replace the blade sooner than I'd want, but again, set your expectations realistically. The shipping was pretty fast. I would recommend this product as long as you go into it with realistic expectations. ... show more

  • The most disappointing purchase I have ever made
My husband wrote this 🙈 I purchased this primarily for shredding cardboard and some small amount of yard cutting for mulch and worm bins. It was easy enough to assemble, just 4 screws and sliding the wheels onto the axle. I had it together in less than 15 minutes and went to try it out on the pile of stuff I’ve been saving for the occasion. First of all, it was VERY loud. This isn’t a ding against the product as much as a reminder to anyone using it to wear ear protection. I started with some cardboard Amazon boxes, torn into strips. I pushed it into the feeder mouth and a small puff of cardboard shreds burped out of the bottom.. so far so good. But when I pushed more in, nothing more came out. I figured I should try putting more in to push what was in the hopper against the blade, but it all just seemed to pack into the hopper and nothing more came out. Okay, so I jammed it, no big deal. It was easy to unjam.. I unplugged it and unscrewed the handle on the back and the top of chipper lifted off easily. I easily scooped out the cardboard and examined the insides to make sure I didn’t miss taking off a blade guard or something, essentially looking for any reason why it would have jammed immediately. I didn’t find anything, so I gave it another go. The same thing happened, a little burp of shreds then jammed. I cleared it, examined it again , and then tried again with smaller, practically pre-shredded cardboard strips, but again it jammed immediately. I gave up on the cardboard and decided to try some weeds and twigs that have been drying out in the Texas sun for a few days. I pushed a handful of grass/weeds into the mouth and then down into the hopper using the paddle provided.. and it worked! All of the grass came through! Of course, it wasn’t really any smaller than it had been when it went in, but it least it didn’t jam, right? Wrong. After two more slightly shredded handfuls, it jammed again and that is the moment I decided to return it and write this review. I understand this is a light duty chipper/shredder, but I don’t think it gets any lighter duty than cardboard and dried grass. I was really looking forward to getting this product, and that anticipation led to the deepest disappointment I have ever felt for a something I bought. It really makes me appreciate Amazon’s refund policy. ... show more

  • Worked as expected.
Just used this shredder for the first time,& it worked fine. This was my first experience with this type of machine. As per the recommendation of other reviewers, I made sure the wood was dry. I shredded mostly thin thorny branches along with some thicker branches, the largest we’re about 1 inch thick & 3 feet long. . The shredder handled them fine. The shredder was much louder than I expected though. It’s not deafening, but my neighbors sure knew something was going on! It also took longer than I thought it would because you have to feed the branches pretty slowly. Admittedly, I was being very cautious & deliberate. I recommend wearing long pants & safety goggles. It took a few minutes to get used to , but I felt safe the entire time. It took me an hour and a half to turn a trash can full of branches & twigs into mulch that filled about 1/3 of the included bag. I was impressed after my first use of this shredder. ... show more

  • Works great on some things but not on everything
The first thing I used it for was for small limbs I had pruned from a vine maple tree. It did a great job of chipping up limbs up to about an inch in diameter but clogged up if there were too many leaves. I’ve since tried shredding small birch limbs and prunings from leafy shrubs. Birch is a harder wood, so the chipper could only handle limbs about 1/2” in diameter and it clogged up frequently when there were a lot of leaves on a limb. As for the shrubs, forget it. It clogged up almost instantly. I spent more time unclogging it than I did feeding it. It claims to be able to shred leaves but I cannot imagine what kind of leaves it could handle. Besides, the cheap, plastic funnel for leaves fell apart during the early stages of use. Bottom line, not nearly as versatile as advertised but if you only need it for smaller tree limbs, it does a good enough job. ... show more
