I have used this color (as well as several other blondes among the Superior Preference line) several times for the past 5 years. However this was my first time buying it on Amazon and it was great. I was nervous about buying box dye online but I recently moved somewhere without a nearby drugstore in walking distance so I had no choice. But this box of 7.5A is the same as the ones I bought in the store. I have mousy medium brown hair and it gives me a warm brown color with subtle blonde highlights. Of course I'm not upset it's brown on my since my hair is so brown and I avoid DIY bleach to prevent damaging my hair. I love how this transforms my boring hair color into a great rich hue. Sometimes I touch my roots up with this once every couple of months and other times I hold out for up to 4 months. I will be honest that I only have about 3 grey hairs so I can't speak to how it performs on grey, but it gives great results for me. It doesn't completely fade since it's permanent but I notice with 7.5A as the toner fades my hair ends up warmer, and lighter/blonder over several weeks. The smell is a bit intense but I wrap my hair in a shower cap while applying it to avoid a mess and mask some of the smell. However I feel the smell is a small price to pay because I otherwise love the results and how much money I save with this hair dye rather than going to a salon. Sometimes I switch from 7.5A and use 8 or 7 and I love the natural results. This line has never let me done for the past 5 years and I have no intention of trying other brands as it's my holy grail. ... show more

Just used the 5CB Medium Chestnut Brown last night and it’s not exactly the color I wanted but I knew the risk I was taking going in and I don’t hate it. The formula for this is runny and does drip, so watch out for those white counters and rugs. The color result is redder than I wanted but the box does indicate it can pull red for redheads so that’s on me, I should’ve gone for a fully cool toned brown. Perhaps this was due more to the quality of my sun bleached hair and general dryness, but it was striking during application how much my hair texture became like straw. I expected to follow up with my usual hair repair methods (Amika RX) but to my surprise, the provided conditioner more than restored the texture to a soft state. Attached some pictures with side by sides, befores on the left. I think I’ll prefer the color in a week or two when it inevitably fades a shade. I have a handful of grays toward the crown and this fully covered those, however, I can’t yet attest to longevity of the coverage. ... show more

My wife has been using Preference for a number of years, most recently this L'Oreal Paris Superior Preference Fade-Defying + Shine Permanent Hair Color. Truly liking the Preference brand she tends to only not use it when she can't find a color she likes. Preferring a natural color, Preference usually delivers, though the last few months she's had a harder time finding a color (her previous one was discontinued), until this one. Having done this before I know how to do her hair. The Preference brand is easy enough to make up, following the steps as directed. I also have an easy time getting it in, my preference being to put the point at the bottom of the hair, at the roots, and mash that in, then pull it to the top and repeat. It spreads and mashes in easily and gives great coverage. Granted, she has shorter hair, but with care one could easily cover longer (though I cannot predict how long). The steps for the shower after are again easy and straightforward and within the hour-hour and a half the whole process takes, one comes away with a rich and warm hair color. This latest in a new favorite and one I think she'll stick with... as long as Preference doesn't do away with it. They seemed to go towards a lot less natural looks for awhile, but seemingly are coming back to more natural, and this one is great. In the end, we are still pleased with the L'Oreal Paris Superior Preference Fade-Defying + Shine Permanent Hair Color and the overall product. ... show more

    • No Brassy Hair!
Color: 8A Ash Blonde Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I have used "Nice n Easy" for decades. I buy products to get rid of the brassiness, but it always shows through. I read someplace about L'Oreal hair dye and tried it. At 77, my hair underneath is pure white. There is an ash cast to my hair now. No brassiness. People have complemented my hair color and no one has said anything negative.
