The best shade I have ever tried

I have been coloring my hair and also going to salons at rimes for 40 years. When I say salons, I mean some of the best salons in Manhattan-because my career was once very appearance oriented. I paid thousands. I got great haircuts but never great blonde-never. I know I have resistant pigment (which
is crazy because my natural color was never darker than a level 5). I also have crazy red orange tones when lightening. I just got tired of spending thousands so I taught myself how to do pro color. Lots of burning and severe itching from the bleach but I learned to achieve pretty impressive results. Eventually, home hair color improved and I sometimes did that but never got a blonde that wasn’t yellow or awful. Based on another woman’s review with experiences similar to mine-I decided to give this a try and whoa, this is my holy grail. Zero itching or burning lime pro color and a GORGEOUS believable blonde on me!!!!!!! I would like to thank the people at L’Oreal and the lady reviewer who led me here. No more haircolor disasters for me. My mother said: “Who did that gorgeous blonde on you?” And when I told her box color she went nuts. If L”Oreal ever discontinued this I am going there with a megaphone and glue myself to the corporate headquarters in protest like a lunatic. Lol!!!!

L'Oreal makes the best over the counter haircoloring product. It doesn't matter if it's Excellence or Preference they are both great. I don't bother to try out any other and have been using it since the early nineties, probably since the seventies, tbh but I don't remember.

My Go To Dye for 14+ years
Color: LB02 Extra Light Natural Blonde

I've been using this dye for half my life. For me and my hair, its a million times easier and cheaper than going to the salon, and my hair actually feels healthy after I use it. Not only that, but a lot of people dont even know my hair is dyed. I'll always be a blonde at heart!

I like this color although it does not cover gray totally, it does work well however and I prefer it over all other at home hair color.

Beautiful ash blonde, no red or brassiness
Color: 9A Light Ash Blonde

This is my color I will always use it. I have almost black hair and this lightens my hair with no bleach and no redness. I have sensitive skin on my scalp and I don’t have a problem with any burning. This is the one.

Color: 5CB Medium Chestnut Brown

Just used the 5CB Medium Chestnut Brown last night and it’s not exactly the color I wanted but I knew the risk I was taking going in and I don’t hate it. The formula for this is runny and does drip, so watch out for those white counters and rugs. The color result is redder than I wanted but the box d
oes indicate it can pull red for redheads so that’s on me, I should’ve gone for a fully cool toned brown. Perhaps this was due more to the quality of my sun bleached hair and general dryness, but it was striking during application how much my hair texture became like straw. I expected to follow up with my usual hair repair methods (Amika RX) but to my surprise, the provided conditioner more than restored the texture to a soft state. Attached some pictures with side by sides, befores on the left. I think I’ll prefer the color in a week or two when it inevitably fades a shade. I have a handful of grays toward the crown and this fully covered those, however, I can’t yet attest to longevity of the coverage. **Update** I used and reviewed this dye in October, it is now December and I have added an additional update picture (roughly 2.5 to 3 months after application). I was correct that the faded shade is what I’m most happy with, especially once the ends lightened up, which happened probably by week 3 or 4. Gray coverage is excellent though my growth seems to already be showing so I’m spotting silvers again. Red tone is lasting very well and I’m happy, just gotta find some sort of root touch up now. Overall a recommend for the lasting color, but I will mention that my hair is much much dryer over the last couple months than usual - I feel my hair usually “bounces back” after a dye (I tend to dye my hair once or twice a year only) and after this box it did not. So if your hair is chemically treated or severely damaged, I would look for a potentially gentler dye formula if there is such a thing. I am using deep conditioner treatments or a quality conditioner in the shower, but what seems to help most is a post shower cocktail: light spritz of Pacifica Silk Rice detangle spray, dime sized amount of JVN instant repair mask, a pump and a half of JVN blowout styling milk, and then the next day or morning 3-4 drops of the JVN nourishing shine drops (I also use Ouai hair oil but I’ve run out - and occasionally IGK mistress hydrating balm on the ends and before I ran out I’d frequently use the IGK Antisocial overnight dry mask which I can’t recommend enough lol) Best of luck to everyone on their hair journey :)

Hair comes out silky and soft
Color: 2BL Black Sapphire

I change my hair a lot so I really like that this works without making hair rough. It is more expensive but worth the money if you process your hair frequently. I most definitely trust this brand! I used the black color and my hair came out shiny.

I’ve been using Loreal hair dye for the last couple of years and I did not had any complaints. I decided to try this one and the first impression was OK I can work with this. It has gel like consistency and it’s really easy to apply. What I didn’t like about it was that it didn’t last as long as the
other Loreal that I used before. It was a good experience, but I’m going back to the other one.
