I have long, thick hair and had blonde highlights done professionally over a year ago, on my dark brown hair. My roots had been showing significantly for a while now, and the still-standing highlighted parts were still a soft nice blonde color. I am saving for a trip so I cannot afford to pay for a professional highlight at the moment, so I decided to neutralize my hair color just a little bit until I can return to the salon in a few months. I used one box, which was not enough for my crazy big hair. BUT it still worked amazingly, and the goal of neutralizing was achieved. It turned to a soft, light-medium brown, and the roots blended with the rest of the hair perfectly. I never dyed my own hair before, and I was a bit nervous to mess it up, but the instructions are super easy to follow and the process is pretty straightforward that you cannot mess it up even if you tried. I have dark dirty blonde naturally. I have highlights professionally done that are almost a year old and only on the bottom half at this point. I tried to lighten my base with 8 UA and it came out a little too orange which is surprising since it's ultra ash. I do like a bit of warmth so I decided to just try the regular 8. I read that the scalp is naturally warmer and processes faster, so the advice was to put it on the roots second. I applied it to my bottom layers first, avoiding my roots and then my top layers also avoiding my roots and left it on for 10 minutes before applying it to my roots. I left it on for another 20 minutes and then used L'Oreal ever pure purple shampoo just in case with Le Color gloss one step toner. Again, just to avoid brassy oranges. I think this is the most natural result I've ever gotten and doing the roots second was key! ... show more

Each box contains a bottle of developer, a tube of color, a tube of shampoo and a tube of conditioner. I purchased the Medium Blonde (#8) Excellence Crème/ Triple Care Color. My natural color was brown however now I am completely white. This product covers my white hair well and gives similar color results to the model on the package. I do have thick shoulder length hair and there is just enough developer and color in one box to cover my roots every 4 weeks but not enough to pull any extra product through to my ends. The color rinses out easily. I use the entire tube of shampoo following the rinse and about a third of the conditioner. There is usually enough conditioner in the tube to use at least one or two more times. I particularly like this part of the process as it leaves my hair silky smooth. When I received my last shipment (3 boxes), one of the boxes was damaged. Inside there was a tube of the conditioner that had split down the side and leaked (see photo). This is the first time I have had this experience however I see several other customers wrote about a similar thing. Despite this, I will probably keep purchasing the product through Amazon because it is convenient… but want to remind others to always check the inside of the packaging when you first receive it. ... show more

We like this brand and classic brown color. We've been using it for several years now. Always a good experience and the product is what we expect when we open the boxes. Has a strong chemical odor but that is what we experience with all of the hair coloring products so far. I've tried many hair colors, trying to hide my gray. I finally settled on this one as my favorite. I started with medium brown, then went to this blond, since it was closer to my actual color. While my wife likes the product, she was disappointed to learn that a recently received order with damaged contents could not be returned. The box apparently got squashed, and the tube inside split on its seam and some content leaked.
