PROS: Took me a good 1 hr to assemble in my living room - 1 beer assembly! Instructions were OK but the pictures of the front and right tire cradles were a bit confusing at first and the bolt packages could've been labeled to correspond to the numbers in the instructions. No major complaints other than that and we'll see how it does on a long trip to the beach later this summer. Really fits super secure and sturdy into the 2" trailer hitch with the "proprietary flat lock hitch cam" with the provided tamper resistant 8mm security allen wrench (DONT LOOSE IT)! Seems super sturdy and rugged, does not rattle so NO need for an additional stabilizer clamp. We'll see how it fairs on a long trip to the beach this summer. CONS: At around 40 lbs and because of the security camlock system, my wife and daughter will not likely use it on their own, so it's a Dad rack. It also sets off the backup camera alarm while reversing the car. FYI: I paired the rack with the Rigid Hitch Class 3 Trailer Hitch (R3-0518) Fits 2006-2018 Toyota RAV4 which we had great difficulty getting installed due to wrong bolts.

Kuat Transfer V2 Hitch Bike Rack - 3 Bike Rack - Black, 2" Hitch Size Writing a review after 4 months of Usage. Really happy with the purchase. Looks cool as well. I have people walking to me, to check regarding the rack. All my bikes (18, 20 and 29 inch bikes) fits nicely. Feels solid once everything is properly mounted. Partial/blocked rear view from the camera and mirror Rack is heavy at 51lb and difficult to reach the tilting pedal, in the three bike configuration. Converted into 2 bike configuration since it makes it easy to handle the rack and improves rear visibility. I can put it back to 3 bike configuration, when ever I need it. The U shaped main frame, wont block the license plate as other racks does (without the bikes loaded). Nothing comes close to this one for mounting 3 bikes, at the price its offered. Specifics regards to my vehicle (might be same for any hitch mounted bike rack) Reverse parking aid cant be used when its mounted Be mindful not to accidently open the liftgate from inside Account of the extra length, especially when loaded with bikes. Special mention to the 'Great Lakes Outpost' for their customer support. I reached out to them when my package arrived with box damaged. They did a really good job in resolving my issue. 5 star to them as well.

The best return for your buck. A little technical to install initially but what an ease of handling your bikes with quick and fast loading and unloading. It is sturdy and fits perfectly onto a 2-inch hitch. Your bikes are safe and secure, it's made for long travels. A security cord is an added advantage. When installed, the internal locking mechanism keeps the carrier intact. No wobbling. Straps are added security. When I am not using it I usually keep them folded. Oh yes, they can be folded and look amazing. I wanted to keep my 3 new bikes secure and wanted something that was affordable in terms of price. This is a middle-tier bike stand in terms of price with top-tier quality.

First to be clear I’m reviewing the Kuat Transfer v2, 3 bike rack. We all know sometimes Amazon plays switcharoo with stars and reviews. Overall great! I’ll list the negative before the positives but know there there are many more positives than negatives. Negative: LOTS of assembly required which I don’t particularly mind but there is no paper instruction manual included. This is my reason for 4/5 stars. With as much assembly needed and different types of fastener and lengths, specific part orientation a paper instruction manual should be a must for this one. Scrolling and pinching my phone to build this beast was not fun. Overall the individual pieces are sturdy but I for one would appreciate a torque value for each fastener. For something that’s going to hold a few thousand dollars worth of bikes off the back of a vehicle I’d feel more comfortable knowing I tightened things accordingly not just “eh, that should be good”, especially when plastic parts are involved. I plan on a regular bolt tightening maintenance schedule, hadn’t considered that when purchasing. Another slight negative is to stow (swivel up) it’s a bit awkward to disengage. Lowering is fantastic. Nothing major just “could use improvement”. Positives: It is sturdy! I purchased Yakama’s 4 bike rack to haul my 3 Mountain Bikes befor this one and I had to return to the store for more “accessories” needed to attach my bikes and it still did not work. Ended up spending more and then had to rerun everything. The design is fantastic and quick to operate. Drop it down, secure front and rear tire and you are off. Includes a lock! Need I say more? That’s huge. Kudos! Includes a stuff sack. As mentioned with the Yakama rack I had to buy a stuff sack to hold all the extras, kuat includes one. Genius. Includes tie down straps. I feel this shouldn’t have to be a plus but again Yakama did not provide them so that was an additional $30-$40 I had to spend on them. Looks like it’s a hot item. When I returned the Yakama to REI I planned to get this rack but discovered it was completely sold out nationwide at REI so I had to get it on Amazon.

I got the 2” receiver 3 bike carrier. Very good rack. Sturdy, reliable, ease of use, comes with a cable lock to lock your bikes to the rack. It is a little heavy but no big deal for me. My only gripe would be the pin that secures the rack to your hitch. I definitely think they could have done a better job with it. No biggie though. I’ve got a locking pin that I use for my tow hitch and I’d recommend any one who buys this to get one as well. There is a locking pin you can buy that Kuat makes but that also has bad reviews because it doesn’t seem too sturdy of a lock. I ordered that locking kit because it also comes with cable locks for each individual bike that seamlessly stow away into the tire hooks. Hope this helps!

Previous to this rack I went ‘cheap’ and bought an Allen rack for $120. It was really well made but there was an engineering flaw in how they adapted it for a 2” hitch. So I sent it back and spent 3 days researching racks. This rack was a lot more $$$ but was/is totally worth the expense. It’s really well engineered and built. It’s a super smart design that has impressed me. So in my research I saw some people saying it’s hard to assemble. It’s not really. IKEA furniture is more frustrating. I got the 3 bike version, so you are assembling 9 components. The instructions are clear and I did it in our basement on the floor, which made it a bit more annoying. It took about an hour and half. If I had a table I’m sure it would have taken an hour max. It’s not complex, it’s just repeating the same thing 3 times. I will say it’s heavier than I was originally looking for. I wanted my wife to easily attach it to the car. But it’s a little too heavy for her. But it is incredibly easy to attach. You slide it into the hitch and just play with how far in or out until you can slide the pin in. And that pin is key for me - I feel confident the whole thing won’t fall out, which the Allen at 2” didn’t have. But then they have this tool that you use to tighten it up so it doesn’t wobble, and that thing is amazing. This rack is unbelievably sturdy. And it is so easy to use. The design is genius. The U shape means it’s easy to walk bikes in for placement unlike racks that have dedicated rails. And the tire channels also are a super smart design choice. The lock is also a really nice design touch. Once the bikes are off the step pedal makes it really easy to fold it up. And on our VW Tiguan nothing obscures the brake lights. But 2 small issues - when you have bikes on the rack it’s hard to reach the pedal to drop them so you can get into the trunk (great feature TBH, just not easy to get to, but you can work around it.) Second is this rack sticks out quite far and I wish they provided some reflective material for people to see it at night. It’s an easy fix - just buy some reflective tape. If you are looking for a 2/3 bike hitch rack I honestly think this thing is what you are after. Great engineering, well built and apparently they planted a tree because we bought it, so a good company. And I’ve never written a review before (okay I did tell people not to buy that Allen product, but that was more like a warning!) I really love this rack. I like it when something exceeds my expectations, because my expectations are so low these days. Kudos to these folks for all they do.

Was looking for a three bike rack to reliably haul bicycles around the country and this unit delivered! Upon assembly, it was evident that this is a high-quality well designed product. Kept all of our bikes planted and safe during our travels. The semi integrated bicycle lock is intuitive and easy to use regardless of how many bikes are loaded. I added an 8 inch hitch extender, so I could put this on the back of our pick up truck while driving with the tailgate down. I would recommend this rack 100%!
