  • Absolutely the best!
Size: 1.25"
This rack is a significant amount more expensive than other two-bike racks. For that reason I spent more time than usual being certain it was worth the additional money. I must have looked at fifteen other racks over a two week period here on Amazon and some other highly regarded--and specialized--sites. I kept coming back to the Kuat Beta as the best hitch for my purposes. But, I was still concerned I'd be paying $50 or so more than what appeared to be several other very similar and very suitable units. It turns out I should not have been concerned. First off, when I opened the shipping box I was impressed by the solid, effective packaging; not a dent or blemish anywhere. Then, when I got it loose of it's packaging I saw it was solid, tight, beautifully designed and a well-crafted product. It took a minute to pull the pin, turn the draw bar around and put the pin back in. It took a few seconds to see why the bar would not slip into the receiver; the anti-rattle cam was somewhat extended. A couple of twists of the 'T' handle let me slide the hitch home. A second later I put in the hitch pin and safety clip. I pulled the pin at the support arm, pulled up the arms, slipped the pin back in. I tightened up all three anti-rattle devices. It was then I realized this was the tightest, most solid rack I have ever seen... and so light! As an added bonus I think it looks great, too. I turned the two forward cradles so they would hold and stabilize my road bike and put my bike on them. I noted there was plenty of room to clear the brake cable running along the top bar and then wrapped the four rubber straps around the tubes. These were the "beefiest" straps I have ever seen on a bike hitch; they held the bike solidly in place. I checked everything over, loaded up the rest of my gear and headed for the bike trail. It's thirteen miles from home to the trail. That distance includes some very rough, paved (well, the map says it's paved) road, a freeway and some stop-and-go city streets. All that distance I could see in the rear vision mirror the rack was absolutely solid; there was no movement of the hitch at all. And, no rattles; none! Excellent! I think my bike was smiling. I've always been concerned about leaving a hitch on the car while I spend three hours on a ride. To address that concern I've always used a cable lock to prevent the hitch or parts of the hitch from walking off. This time I had a better solution. In two minutes I had the support arms down, the hitch off the car, the draw bar parallel to the post and whole thing stowed in the trunk of my car. Man, that's the lightest--and tightest--hitch ever. Over the years I have had several bike hitches, both hanging and platform, expensive and bare-bones. For a lot of reasons this is the best of 'em all. I gotta say it: I'm glad I spent the extra bucks and bought the Kuat Beta. ... show more

  • Great 2-bike hitch rack
Size: 2"
Great hitch-mount 2-bike rack. I was unsure about hanging my nice bike on this thing but am glad I took the plunge. 2 bikes are safely and securely cradled without interacting on this rack and are essentially motionless if you run a hook and loop strap from the back of each front wheel to each frame. The rack fits the hitch well and has screws which are hand tightened to keep it from rattling when moving. Very light and easy to place on the hitch and can be kept in your truck when you reach your destination, or locked to the hitch if needed. ... show more

  • Bike Rack 1-1/4 inch receiver
Size: 1.25"
Great quality bike rack and ready for installation right out of the box, no assembly needed. It’s not heavy and the joint welds and paint job is high quality, this should last a long while. The hitch pin is not lockable but you can purchase a good one for about $15 on line or remove the rack and fold it up and place it in car/suv. This rack appears to be more sturdier than competitors probably because there are minimal bolted joints. The anti vibration design for the hitch insert is superior to others as well. Highly recommended, worth the price. ... show more

  • Sturdy, secure and light weight!
Size: 2"
Absolutely great. Superior build quality, incredibly secure when mounted on car. Absolutely no wiggle. Light too, half the weight of any other hitch mount bike rack. What do you give up? Nothing! While it doesn’t have a fancy mechanism to lower the rack or arms, it’s so simple to do that you appreciate the low weight and how compact it is for storage. It will easily fit in the cargo area when not in use! ... show more

  • Love it - very stable, easily to install and remove, simple to use
2" version. Super stable - no rack wobble due to hitch tightening knob and top tension knob. Cradles with heavy duty rubber straps are easy to use and keep bike movement to a minimum (three straps to top tube, one to seat tube). During travel I use a Curt hitch lock and a long Kryptonite cable to lock the bikes to the hitch loop. (Locks are - of course - a deterrent only to a casual thief.) If I am out riding for the day I stow the hitch in the car - very light at only 14 lbs and simple to remove. Quality construction with no sharp edges or corners. (It did take me a while to figure out that a cool looking tool supplied with the rack was actually just a bottle opener!) One year update: this has been getting a lot of use transporting two bicycles over highways and back roads. Confident that bikes are secure during my travels. One of the rubber straps broke and Kuat promptly sent me some replacements (I would suggest that they include a spare with the little bag of hardware). Yay, Kuat Love! ... show more

  • Sturdy and Lightweight
Size: 2"
It was exactly what I was looking for. Sturdy, well built (quality), super light weight, easy to use and install. I am impressed with everything about this rack. I have a 4 bike rack that weighs a ton and I will use it if needed but the 2 bike rack works most of the time. I can remove it quickly and it it folds small and it's light to move. The biggest opportunity to improve the rack would be adjustments to hold non-traditional style bike frames. I can use it for my mountain bike but having a little movement to adjust the hangers for instance would make it compatible for most bikes. I am aware this is a common theme or challenge for many of the manufacturers of bike racks but I envision there's a solution to the problem. I am glad I bought this rack and saved my money vs. a similar style from Yakama or Tulle but half the price though similar quality. ... show more

  • Super light, quality bike rack
This rack really is as light as they say. Very simple to carry with one hand. I wanted something that I could easily remove and through in the back storage area of my Grand Cherokee and this works nicely. The bottom section folds up for storage, which is also helpful. I think most of the other racks of this type don't. It has adjuster knobs for both top and bottom hinges which eliminate any wiggle and make the unit feel really tight. The rubber (or whatever material that is) bike mounts/straps seem solid. One of the two mounts is "L" shaped and uses three straps to hold the bike in place, one of which mounts to the vertical bar on my bike frame. This keeps my bike fairly steady and stops it from swaying into the back of my Jeep. The only cons (and these are minor) are that: 1. There's a pull pin on the top and bottom hinges. So when you want to access the trunk you've got to back off the tension knob, remove the safety from the end of the pin, and than pull the pin. Some other racks I looked at had a simple latch that you use with one hand. Nice when you're carrying something and want to get into the trunk with one hand. Again, not a big deal. 2. There's an adjustment knob on the bottom that you turn to take out the wiggle from the rack once it's installed in the hitch. You're meant to turn it by hand to take out the slack, but I need to use a wrench to really make it sung and it feels like I am tightening it a little more than it really wants to go. After removing / installing over and over again, I dunno how long before that mechanism gives out or strips. Time will tell. I think this is probably an issue for all rack that use this kind of device. Overall, this is a great rack and I would recommend to anyone. You're not going to find anything lighter that is as stable. It looks, and operates like a quality item. Worth the price. ... show more

  • Solid, well designed
Size: 2"
High quality bike rack. Purchased since it was a full 2" one, not a 1 1/4" with an adapter. I had one of those before and it rattled and was difficult to put on and take off. The Kuat one is easy to install and take off. It has tightener knobs that keep the rack secure and stops any rattling when in use. Very nice and well thought out design. Looks good and simple also. Good built in straps. Still use some extra rope to secure the wheels from rotating and prevent bike swaying. All hang down racks would require this. ... show more
