Worked great! I was able to completely drain a California King waterbed in much less time than just using gravity alone . . like around an hour vs. several hours. And it also removed more water! Bed was waveless so some water is contained in the fiber mats inside the mattress, and this pump really helped pump that out. I did carefully read the instructions first though regarding priming it, having the pump lower than the water, etc. One thing I noticed though: The quick-start guide basically said "prime it, and go!" whereas the actual manual had a separate step not incl. in the quick start guide . . and that is, to first put half a tablespoon or so of vegetable oil in first to lubricate the internals upon the first startup, which I did. I didn't have vegetable oil on hand, so I used some liquid coconut oil, which worked fine . . ... show more

I received this pump the day after ordering it. It arrived well packed and had everything I needed, save for a waterbed drainage kit I already had on hand. The instructions are sparse, but there was really nothing else to say regarding how the pump worked. I used a little olive oil to lubricate the pump, following the directions and then hooked up everything to a metal discharge hose 50 feet long. The kit comes with a six foot hose to connect to the water source and it all went together smoothly. I plugged the pump into a power strip with a switch, since the pump has no built in switch. The pump primed perfectly and water flowed out easily. For the waterbed drainage, I had to keep the line well positioned with boxes placed to keep the line vertical and to adjust the waterbed bladder as the water drained. The noise level people complain about is negligible, and it helps to hear changes in the water flowing through the pump as it is doing it's thing. It took about an hour and the entire bed was drained with no problem. Five stars for fast shipment, packing, easy to read instructions, and performance. I will be using this in the future for other tasks and am thankful to have a simple and easy to use pump on hand. ... show more
