No, you have not stumbled onto a review for a tennis “open”. I am talking about opening cans! Yes, this product opens every can I have had so far. I liked the different color choices but that is not all you should be thinking about. The real question is whether this product can do what it says. It does! The color choice just helps it do it with style points. So, it offers a great ergonomic design and easy to use operating button. It is a practically foolproof way to open cans. However, if this can opener has a drawback it would be the battery compartment door is a little flimsy and can take a few try’s to get open or closed. However, it's not a show stopper! So, stop reading the reviews and buy the product! Oh…….and throw out that old outdated model you have! ... show more

I got this because I'm disabled and traditional can openers were hard for me. This is the closest thing to hands-free you can get. Just set it on the can and push the button. No need to hold or turn anything. It's magnetic and easy to get into place on the can. The button is large and easy to push. When it's gone around once, just hit the button again to stop it. (If you're visually impaired, there is an audible click when it hits the start point.) Then, you can just lift the top of the can off. It's leaves a smooth edge and, while I wouldn't suggest purposely running your fingers along the cut part of the can, I haven't managed to accidentally cut myself yet. It has opened every can I've used it on without incident. It's small enough to go in the drawer, but if something hits the button, it WILL start and run out the batteries or make you tear apart your kitchen to find the sound. Luckily, it comes it a lot of colors and looks cute enough to leave on the counter. Addition info: It does make a sound, but it's not super loud. With some cans, the cut is so good I can put the top of the can back on and store the remaining product in the fridge. It's not airtight obviously and it will come off if you knock it over, but it beats a piece of aluminum foil. ... show more

When my mom broke her wrist she was complaining that it was almost imposable to open cans with one hand. I purchased this for her, and it really helped her out. You can do the whole thing single handed, feels kind of like magic. it cuts a pretty dull edge as well, which is nice for kids. I've got to admit if you have two working hands it feels a little slow, but if you are having an issue, or if you have young kids that want to participate in the kitchen this is a great option. I've seen it fail on some odd shaped cans though, like tuna cans and anything with a key. ... show more

Kitchen Mama customer service was excellent! I contacted their customer service as I had an issue with the can opener not working properly. They responded quickly asking some questions regarding the issues I was experiencing. After a few emails, they determined a new replacement can opener should be sent to me. Within a week of beginning the process, I had a new can opener, that works perfectly! Very professional, responsive customer service that quickly resolved my problem. As for the product, the can opener works great, easy to use. I was struggling to use a normal can opener due to some physical limitations. This Mama Kitchen can opener is a game changer! Please, do yourself a favor if considering an electric can opener... Don't get one, get this battery operated one. The Kitchen Mama is so easy. You put it properly on top of the can and it isn't hard or a special, confusing way, you just place it on top and push a button. Once it gets past the whole circle of the can, you press the stop button- same as the "ON" button and you pop off the top. It's not jagged and sharp it's perfect. Buying one for our vacation home, as my wrists and fingers are a little crippled due to carpal tunnel. I couldn't put my cans on electric openers, and the manual ones were impossible. Not a whole lot to say other than it's kinda fun to watch it crawl around a can while it operates, and the resulting lids have essentially no sharp edges at all. It is a little noisy, however every electric can opener I've ever owned always made a decent amount of noise. Oh, I do wish it would automatically stop when it has finished cutting the lid off; it will sit there and pirouette around the can until you press the little button to stop it. Not worth subtracting a star, because it doesn't hurt anything. Only other thing is I'm curious how long the batteries will last, and if somehow it's intolerable I'll come back to edit my review.
