Very easy to assemble. (We are using the plug in feature) It looks great and such a good price when you consider the inclusion of the cord covers. The shades are a good quality but the color is more brown than linen and they are much brighter than expected even with a three way bulb. I dyed some flour sack towels to place over them when we want it dimmer and that solves the issue. They are great for reading! I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend them. ... show more

Overall, I’m pleased with the appearance and build quality of this lamp, although it’s not exactly a first-rate product. But, for the money, it serves my purpose. The issue I have is with the mounting plate - not only does it not fit flush against the wall (the mounting screws inexplicably protrude away from the plate, causing the plate not to be flush). Also, the mounting screws are too long, so that it’s impossible to get the lamp to tighten snugly against the mounting plate, leaving a wobble in the light. This is the problem with a lot of things made in China - they’re designed and manufactured by companies that don’t really use their own products, so they have a poor understanding of how they actually work (or don’t, in this case). After a little fiddling around with extra wooden shims and braces, I got the lamp to install, but it was not exactly an easy experience. ... show more

I am very pleased with the overall quality of this product (Brushed-Nickel Fixture - 2-Pack). My installation is direct-wired so I did not use the included cords and covers. The wall/fixture cover plate easily conceals a standard nominal 2" x 4" old work or new work single-gang electrical outlet box. The provided mounting plate provides secure mounting to the outlet box and allows for adequate placement/orientation for leveling the fixture. (I did read some of the reviews that claimed that the wall/fixture cover plate did not fully-cover the outlet box and that the mounting plate did not align with the outlet box mounting screw holes, however, they may have used a different size outlet box other than a standard 2" x 4" nominal single-gang box.) If you use the outer-most circular mounting slots and place a standard #6-32 x 1" long wiring device machine mounting screw (same size screws that are provided with standard wiring devices such as receptacles/switches) in the outer slots, adjacent to the threaded studs provided for fixture cover plate mounting, that protrude from the mounting plate at the top and bottom of the plate - you will find that the screws will line-up perfectly with the single-gang box device/fixture mounting screw holes. If you are not familiar with basic residential electrical wiring/fixture installation then I suggest you consult with a friend/family member who is proficient along these lines or have the lighting fixtures professionally-installed. Also, you will need basic tools and a drill and correctly-sized drill bits for some applications - especially when mounting the lamps directly to a wall using the cords/plugs - so, yes the installation of these lamps does require some degree of mechanical/electrical basic installation/assembly prowess. As final notes, the shades and the shade mounting harps for the model/color fixture I ordered were of very good quality and the shade mounting stud at the top of the harp does provide for adjustment in leveling the shade by grasping the harp and using pliers to tilt the shade stud retainer as necessary. The 3-way switches provided on the units I received operate normally and I installed 40/60/100 Watt LED Soft White Lamp Bulbs. Lamps function very well and look great. These swing arm lamps are nice looking and reasonably well made, but be aware that if you don't have the tools to modify them, you're going to be frustrated. The first problem with these lamps is that the manufacturer only assumes that you will be mounting them to unsupported sheetrock. The lamps include sheetrock mounting anchors, but provides no screws for mounting directly to a wall stud. Luckily, I had those screws on hand and was able to provide my own. The second problem was that the wall mounting plate which connects to lamp, uses bolts that are about a quarter inch too long to provide a tight fit to the wall. I had to trim these bolts with a small grinder (hack saw would also have worked) to make them the correct length. This also meant that I needed to clean up the cut threads with a file to allow the mounting nuts to attach to the newly trimmed bolts. The third problem is that the switch post attached to the lamp is a bit short. It works, but it's uncomfortable to use. I may attempt to replace these with longer switch posts later but for now they'll do. Overall, the manufacturing attention to detail was poor. But once those shortcomings were overcome, the lamps themselves look quite nice. ... show more
