I just got the jellyfish lamp last night, I purchased it for my autistic 10 year old grand nephew, I will be giving it to him later today so I don't know how he will like it yet. However, I opened it and added the water and a few drops of soap, used the rod that came with it to get rid of the bubbles from the ides of the tank and the jellyfish. That was about it for the prep of it. I added the 2 jellyfish and the 2 fish to it and let it run for a couple of hours and it looks great, very colorful and the items are moving around good. It did not come with a remote and the motor only has one speed. The lights are nice and I think it is worth the money so far. It is a little heavy so I will be warning him to not carry it around but it is the prefect size for a side table in his room. ... show more

The jellyfish tsank arrived on time, well packaged, and undamaged. The tank was an obvious return and the pump didn't work as delivered. Being familiar with aquarium pumps, I took a closer look and discovered a fine tentascle had been drawn into the impeller. With the tank unplugged, the tentascle was easily withdrawn, restoring full functionality. A snippet of screen or coarse foam sponge over the intake would prevent this from happening again. The tank is a delight for the money! The jellies look great (better than any of the others I've owned or seen). They quickly settled into a useful buoyancy after a bit of tspping out of air bubbles and general squishing of medusa. The speaker and it's volume range are adequate. Lights have a pleasing range of colours. I do wish that I could "freeze" on a particular shade/colour that occurs when the lamp is shifting through the full colour range (it only allows a choice of 7 (or so) steady colours). Some unexpected, but welcome enough, additional features: the 2-speed pump isn't steady flowing, but instead, pulses & the pre-recorded "white noise" actually has 10+ different pleasing background noises available (raindrops, ocean waves w/seagulls, thunderstorm, train moving over tracks, morning birdsong, nighttime crickets, etc.) Overall, buying this item was a great choice. Running for almost 5 years. We bought this lamp on March 6, 2021. It's now February 15, 2026 and it's still going strong. We bought some extra jellyfish on amazon for it and we like to keep it on the blue light. It does have some staining on the side of ours but that's because it was getting sunlight a bit in the past. I recommend this jellyfish lamp as it's wonderful and long lasting especially for the price ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is really cute and I put the fish and the jellyfish in together and it works out very well. I love everything about it except the motor noise. I've only had it running for one day and it seems to be getting louder. This may have to be returned. UPDATE: After a couple weeks the loud motor noise stopped and now it is very quiet! ... show more

Bought it as a Christmas gift for my brother's kid. It was a hit! They love sea animals and this did not disappoint. It is recommended to run it for a couple days after setting it up for the jellyfish to move properly. Make sure you plug it in during that time. We used batteries to begin with and got less than a day on them (granted, it stayed on until the batteries died, so not bad on just batteries). You can also cycle through different color lights. So even if you want a cool looking lamp or don't want the hassle of real fish, you can go with this. Definitely worth the price. ... show more

I bought this back in 2019 . I loved it so much , I even bought one for my mom. It is relaxing to watch . To have a simple distraction from the seriousness of adulting or navigating through childhood. It was.very well constructed, no leaks , no noise . Sadly last week the motor stopped working and no more swimmingly jellies. I’m beyond bummed , I always had it on in our living room. I am impressed with how long it lasted though.
