I bought the Philips Hue Smart Play Light Bar Base Kit, Black - White & Color Ambiance LED to add some ambiance to my gaming setup. I have to say, I am very impressed with the quality and performance of these lights. They are easy to set up, sync with the Hue Bridge and app, and work with many games and apps that support Hue Sync. The colors are vibrant, the brightness is adjustable, and the effects are immersive. I love how they can create a dynamic lighting scene that matches the mood and action of the game. If you have any hue lights before you get these, you know what to expect. They're physically solid, well packaged, and function exactly as you expect. They have a base which can be mounted on the bottom so the lights face straight up, or on the smallest end, so the lights stand up and face horizontally. I put one behind my couch and one on a shelf, both facing up to light the wall behind my couch. They connected without trouble to my hue bridge. They're what I would call a "medium" brightness - they're fine for accent lighting but not bright enough for the pair to serve as the main lighting for a room. Ok.. I will admit.. I'm very late to the Smart Home thing with me just buying Philips Hue bulbs about two weeks ago.. I've had some strip lights for a couple of years and a google home mini. But I always thought the lights and philips set-up was just too pricey UNTIL..... I decided to pull the trigger during Amazon Prime Day.. I bought the 4 bulb starter kit and I fell in love with it.. It was great. Then I got the idea that I should buy MORE Philip lights so I can control them with Google Home and they can interact with the tv / laptops / Nvidia shield. Hence me purchasing the Philips Hue Play. I'll say.. I had high expectations and was very excited to purchase. The product was shipped to me Next Day delivery. I got them out the box, attached the sticker to the round oval plastic connector and attached to the tv. So far they're just ok. I'm not as excited, I'm thinking its because of my light placement. I have each light attached to one side of my 65in Samsung OLED. They're placed about 12 inches from the bottom, 4 inches from the edge, and upright attached to the tv. The colors change with every scene thanks to the HUE STREAMING app on Nvidia Shield Android TV. But as I said. They're just ok. I will have to mess around with the set-up, maybe I can make them look better. So far I'll give them 3 stars. The connectivity was easy. My hue immediately recognized them along with my Galaxy Note. I'll give it another couple of days and fool around with the settings then revisit. ***REVISED UPDATE*** Ok. here's an update after using for 3+ weeks. I wasn't too impressed with the 2 Philips Hue playlights so I thought it would be advantageous to order a 3rd. Good thing I did. This changed my viewing experience a lot. It shows more color ranges and the lights pretty much spread around the entire rear of the tv. You can actually see the gradiation of the light colors. I'm very pleased with the lights now. plus it links seamlessly with my Google Home Mini, I also have it linked to my Nvidia Shield thru a Standalone 3rd party Hue Playstream app. This allows it to change colors with every scene depending on what you are watching. Only issue, it does not work with Netflix or any specially copyrighted property. But it works great with Youtube and anything on Kodi. For this reason I'm updating my ratings an additional star. I like it as 3 hue lights are better than 2 and 1 is better than none. ... show more
