Description

Designed for recreational use and around-town commuting, The 700C Kent Springdale hybrid bicycle features a hand-crafted, lightweight 6061 aluminium frame and 60mm travel front suspension fork for a comfortable ride on a variety of road surfaces. This well thought out hybrid bicycle is equipped with 21 speeds to suit any terrain up and down hills and has linear pull brakes for confident stopping power. Like this bike. Fairly easy to assemble. brakes required minimal adjustments and the 21 gears shifted well with no adjustment. recommend using a bicycle frame or rack or something to keep rear wheel off ground to check gear shifting so as not to strain shifting parts or chain - also aids in assembly. included instructions must be for a mountain bike since fenders and back rack barely even mentioned, but screws included in bicycle frame to secure those parts. seems a shame to have to assemble most bicycles these days, and the "expert assembly" offered here costs almost as much as the bicycle itself! recommend taking to a bicycle shop if unfamiliar with bicycle assembly, brake or gear adjustment, or if you don't have 4, 5, 6 mm allen wrenches, adjustable wrench, ratchets, etc. ... show more

With the gas prices going up, I decided to get a commuting bike, but didn't want to spend a lot in case my commute wasn't too good. The bike arrived in a box, all contents were dent and scratch free. It took about 30-45 minutes to put together, no big deal. The bike is cheaply made; here's what I mean: 1) tires seem dried out and won't last long, 2) the adjustment screws for v-brakes are made of softest aluminum and strip easily, 3) the seat is hard and not comfortable, 4) it took quite a bit of adjustments to get the chain stop jumping in the rear, 5) the rear wheel is out of balance - it's not annoying to ride but you can feel it when cruising down hill. In retrospect, I should have know that for $249 you can't expect much these days, but I will give this bike a try. ... show more

I was not expecting much as it is on the cheaper end of hybrid bikes, but was a little disappointed. There was no seat post or seat included, and with no apparent way to fix this other than return it I had to go get these from a repair shop. One of the tubes already came with a hole in it. Instructions are not specifically how to build this bike, but rather how to build any bike, leaving you to figure out which steps and instructions apply to you. This bike is perfect for what I need. I’ve been on a weight loss journey (100 down and counting). I started by walking, then running, and then I did a lot of HIIT workouts. I got used to being physically active every day, but I felt like I had hit a plateau. I hadn’t had a bike in many years, and I was nervous about getting one. I was worried about finding something comfortable and affordable. One of my big concerns was sturdiness. I am still a large man, and I have about 40-60 lbs I’d like to trim. At 285, I am technically over the stated max rider weight of 275lbs. After getting the bike assembled, the only issue I had was that the seat wasn’t tightened enough, so I used my drill with a socket attachment (and a little adhesive between the locking nuts) to fix that. Now, the bike is everything I’d hoped for. It shifts easily, it feels sturdy under my weight. The breaks are definitely capable of confident deceleration and stopping. And the handlebars... they’re high enough so I don’t have to stoop to grab them, allowing me to ride longer and more comfortably. I have taken it through bike trails worn in the grass, on city streets, clean and rough, and I’ve ridden it out on the county roads among the corn fields. While I’m sure it’s limitations may be more noticeable to seasoned riders, this bike is perfect for riding around town, or out in the country. I will take it into Austin l, once things settle down again. I love it! ... show more

The bike didn’t come damaged. The instructions to set the bike up were poor and the seat is very uncomfortable. The bike rides well, however I think you can find a bike that rides better for the same price.

Nice commuter bike for its price range. It has a smooth ride and comfortable for a larger rider. It is light weight and moves will. Shifting is not a precise and the frontend suspension is a little soft. Ordered one bike and it had some chrome flaking off of the back bick rack. Ordered a replacement and got it. Returned the other bike and it has been over three months without notice of receiving the bike or getting a refund. Although, the shipping company reports the bike was delivered within a week of shipping the bike back. Really bad. ... show more

I bought this bike for commuting to school. I wanted something cheep in case it gets stollen. Normally I ride a $3K mountain bike in a men’s large size. This is really different and not nearly as comfortable. I had to buy a longer seat post which was inexpensive at my local bike shop. The one it comes with is really short and doesn’t work for my super long legs. The twist shifters are easy to use and the fenders will help keep my nice clothes clean and dry. It wasn’t too hard to put together but for an inexperienced cyclist I recommend taking it to a professional to make sure everything is adjusted just right. ... show more
