  • Real good bike

Wonderful bike Large tires Handy bike rack Cool looking and light Excellent real bike for those who need one at a reasonable price

  • More problems than joy. No reason to buy unless your bored and have lots of disposable income.
Style: For Men
Kent used to be a decent brand and I was interested that they could offer a seemingly decent commuter bike for this price point, but as it's often said, you get what you pay for. I'm very disappointed that I spent this much for a bike that requires more work time than ride time. Assembly was straight forward. I have had this bike for a little while and put about 250 miles on it so this is a pretty detailed review after significant use. Very inexpensive derailleurs. I'm surprised that Shimano even put their name on them. They need constant tuning and at this point I just avoid using the large gears because I'm sure that they won't shift or will fall off because it's impossible to properly set the limit screws. The front Derailleur cage was slightly bent out of the box, but not warped enough to cause this much or an issue. The twist shifters are also very annoying and since it significantly reduces the size of the grip bars I find myself accidentally shifting when I try to brake. I replaced them with basic Shimano trigger shifters and normal ergonomic grips (+$40) which was much more comfortable and provide more consistent shifting of the rear derailleur (front is still hit or miss). The cassette is fine. Had to take off the front chain guard because I have so many issues with the High limit screw the chain gets stuck between the guard and largest front sprocket. The tires seemed okay, but I have replaced or patched the tubes so many times I suspect they are not as passable as I expected(+$18 for tubes). It seems like I am getting flats for no reason at all (no puncture or pinch flats, proper Psi for the tire recommendation, not hitting any hazards or potholes) so I suspect It needs new tires. The brakes are basic rim brakes and are just fine. They function as expected. The brake pads were very small for a 700c and the pads were already (seemingly) dry rotted and had almost no bite. Replaced them as well (+$14). The seat is okay for slow cruising around a farmers market or something, but awful for actual commuting or doing any distance over a few miles. Replaced with a decent saddle (+$25). The wheels arrived in decent shape. No bent spokes or anything, but did need to true them a little because of some wobble. The frame and front suspension are built pretty solid. The bike is VERY HEAVY. I appreciate that it came with fenders and a rear rack, but I took off the fenders because it was just so heavy. Still a nice feature. Overall it's a good looking frame. So in conclusion, I would avoid this bike. It has cost me more time, money and energy than I would like just to keep it on the road. I have been using it just to get around the neighborhood (less than 6 miles a day) and still having problems with random flats and sloppy/unreliable shifting. The most frustrating part is that it is impossible to return. The time and effort to disassemble and repackage are not realistic. I will likely just replace the tires and hope it resolved the flat issue and suffer through limited gear range. I have already purchased a more reliable bike for extended use. ... show more

Good looking bike but for big guys, the handlebars may be little, other then that , it’s great.

  • Relatively poor quality compared to other bikes in comparable price-range.
First impressions: not good. The shipping box arrived very beat-up. There are almost no interior packaging materials to protect the bike during the 1000s of miles it travels from China - where it is manufactured - to the Kent warehouse/possible reseller, and then to your home. Simply upon opening the box and making a cursory inspection without even removing it from the box yet, I can see that the overall quality especially in the finishing, such as the plating/polishing on some of the exposed metal parts that are supposed to look nice and/or be weatherproof, is pretty bad. (As you can see from my photos.) Some of these bits are going to rust pretty quick, necessitating having to refinish them yourself before your next damp rainy weather season. We have 3 other mid-level quality / moderately priced bicycles (Schwinns) at my house, and none of them have this issue; all of them have nice smooth finishing in the paint and chroming and bare metal. I decided to purchase this bicycle because of the low price, and because a bicycle I bought last year that was supposed to be 'used and good as new' / 'open box' was trashed. So I've been waiting for a new bike, and with the pricing algorithm I managed to get this one very inexpensively, while a different hybrid bike I was looking at and holding in my shopping cart the price just kept going up and up and up. And up. And even looking at it today, it has gone up again. Because I've been waiting such a very long time to get a new bike (nearly 2 years, because I absolutely must be very price-conscious) I guess I will just have to chalk this up to experience and the old saying that 'you get what you pay for'. I'm going to keep it for now, put it together, see how it turns out, and probably come back later and update / make additional comments on my review. UPDATE: I returned it. Upon removing the bike from the box there were immediately a number of other problems presented. The wheel rims are gouged and scratched, and they have obvious seams in them which have sharp exposed edges (sharp enough to cut my finger) and several other areas noticeable where the finishing on metal parts is terrible. (Again, I compared to other bicycles in my household and none of our other bikes have these problems.) And there are loose parts/bolts & nuts & washers rolling around in the bottom of the box very near to a large hole in the side of the box, so how do I know that a bunch of other loose parts didn't already fall out? Why were these small parts not packaged in a bag or at least taped securely to something? I'm not willing to go through the aggravation of putting the bike together only to find that there are a bunch of parts missing. And the issues with the overall quality is also a deal-breaker. I'm really super disappointed because this bike was so reasonably priced compared to others, and I really like the aesthetic overall look of this bicycle much better than most, and it has the extras that I really wanted like the fenders and the included rear rack. But I decided with all of the flaws it has, it's not worth the risk of having problems with it continuously down the road, not even with it's very reasonable price. Bummer. ... show more

  • I realized "you get what you pay for" is very true with this bike
Style: For Men
With the gas prices going up, I decided to get a commuting bike, but didn't want to spend a lot in case my commute wasn't too good. The bike arrived in a box, all contents were dent and scratch free. It took about 30-45 minutes to put together, no big deal. The bike is cheaply made; here's what I mean: 1) tires seem dried out and won't last long, 2) the adjustment screws for v-brakes are made of softest aluminum and strip easily, 3) the seat is hard and not comfortable, 4) it took quite a bit of adjustments to get the chain stop jumping in the rear, 5) the rear wheel is out of balance - it's not annoying to ride but you can feel it when cruising down hill. In retrospect, I should have know that for $249 you can't expect much these days, but I will give this bike a try. ... show more
