Compared to my old vacuum, this is a dream! I love that it is so lightweight and it picks up the dirt & dog hair very well. I like the tools are right on board and it's many features are very appealing. The issues I have are: it's awkward to switch the carpet pile height (ex-low to high); the canister does not follow you well so you have to pick it up to move it and it gets heavy; I get shocked when I'm vacuuming carpet and I touch the metal wand to help guide/steer the PowerMate; it would be nice to be able to disconnect the end of the wand and have a built in end-piece rather than having to put on the attachment. With 2 very furry dogs I use the pet hair attachment a lot and I like it but don't love it. The brush stops spinning when you roll it across furniture but if you can manage to keep the brush spinning then it does a great job of picking up the fur. Overall I love it and am happy with the purchase.

It has all the attachments you need. The motorized “pet hair” attachment works great - it is good for car carpets, carpeted stairs and dog beds. The variable suction control allows for vacuuming light items. The hardwood attachment works well and can reach under beds & dressers easily.

Before purchasing this recently, I have/had used a Kenmore Intuition canister vac for 15-20 years. That one went through several repairs near the beginning of its life, but following that, has performed well for many years until a couple months ago. (After getting the new vac, I had the old one repaired. So I now have an upstairs vacuum and a downstairs vacuum.) I have no shortage of dog hair, so my vacuums get a workout. I'm a reader and believer of Consumer Reports Magazine. This new vacuum came in second in their ratings of canister vacuums. A Miele canister vac came in first, but costs right at three times what the Kenmore does. That's a no-brainer to me. That extra ~$800 will pay for a fair number of Kenmore repairs or even replacements. I believe Panasonic makes canister vacuums for Kenmore. My old one and the new one are on three wheels (vs. four). The canister body does not maneuver well. When you pull it with the hose, it seldom goes the direction you intend. I'm used to this after 20 years, but it is a pain in the butt. I can't imagine why Panasonic hasn't changed the wheel arrangement in this many years. It's like they've never tried their own product. The canister body does have some weight to it and is not very quiet, but I think this is probably due to a fairly large and powerful motor. So that's not necessarily a bad thing. I do not care for the new attachment method for the nozzles. They have made sure that you cannot buy knock-off nozzles when the current ones wear out by making them very specific in the way they attach. In addition, the attachment is bulky, so the hose-end/handle will not fit into some tight places that the old one will. I definitely prefer the nozzles and attachment method of the older vacuum more. Miscellaneous: The new vac does not include an upholstery nozzle, which the old one did. The vacuum is powerful, and still includes an LED light on the distal end of the wand. I think that's a great feature for being able to see cobwebs and such things in low-light areas. The carpet head has its own motor and still performs as well or better than my old unit. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with the new vacuum. For the money, I recommend it.

I've always used a Kenmore canister vac. I can tell by the sound of the motor it's the same as my old one. I have two long haired cats and Kenmore has never failed in cleaning and It's a little bit lighter than the older ones. I did try a Shark Rocket Pet Plus but it doesn't pick up all the hair and I have to carry the attachment bag with me everywhere in the house. The Kenmore sweeps up all the hair and doesn't wrap around the agitator bar like the Skark. Only a couple things I'm not happy with is the powermate agitator will not stand up straight with the wand attached when not in use like my old one. It tips over. The storage hook slot on the bottom is useless to me, it eventually breaks. Also, the powermate doesn't lay completly flat to sweep under furniture like my old one. Over all I'm satified even though there are some needed improvements.

When our old Kenmore vacuum finally died, Consumer Reports led us to this as a replacement. For our multi-level home, with hardwood floors, stone, and carpet, this cleans them all with easily adjustable suction and great maneuverability.

Updated Feb 4th, Amazon is still horrible, Bad service, Scam Update Feb 2nd, Amazon is still horrible, No refund 1 month after the damaged item the sent was returned to their possession Update Jan 31 still horrible service by Amazon, I will put updates every day until the refund my money day 28th still not refund, shame on you Update they have received the item now for 25 days and they are still saying up to 2 weeks more for refund, what a joke, don't buy anything from them, not to be trusted, this is trick, In my case it arrived Damaged with Box damaged,I understand that has nothing to do with product but the reason I wanted to put the review is it's very bulky and heavy, this was replacing an older canister Kenmore that was much lighter and easier to move Product arrived damaged and Amazon after 20 days now says I will get my refund in 2 weeks from now! Really????? More than a month because someone must have lost it? It show it was dropped off at Amazon 20 days ago!
