Will boil water! Good for cooking too!

I bought this hot plate when my stove went out completely a few months ago. Very happy with my purchase as the stove went out again after being repaired! It works like a champ once you figure out how to adjust the temperature to meet your needs, whether to boil water (excellent) to slow simmer. It feels well built, very stable and a little heavier than others I considered purchasing from the big box stores, and had a controllable wattage used to generate higher heat output needed to actually boil water, which the lesser brands really couldn't do. It will definitely boil water and takes a shorter time for say boiling eggs vs a large pot of spaghetti. Very easy to use, just remember to not unplug it immediatly after use as it does rely on a fan to help cool the unit down after you turn it off. Easy to clean with ceramic top cleaner too.
