Yes great Uke. My new favorite. Just that little size difference from a standard tenor, just makes it the perfect size, IMO. I’m using the standard Aquila tenor strings, and I’m really enjoying the tone.

    • Cracked on the back and seller unhelpful
I noticed another cracked in the back review recently. Makes me wonder if they sent me that ukulele since my Kala instruments are usually amazing. This seems like it would be a great uke except for the crack along the grain. I won't purchase from this seller again and I hope Kala will be able to help. This was the seller's response to me that I should contact the manufacturer versus allowing me to return the uke. I missed the return date by a few days because of travel and they won't budge off of the 30 day return policy. The sellers have been polite but unhelpful. ... show more

I've finally found the uke I've been looking for! It has a great sound with the low G string and the zircote is beautiful. The 19" scale length is the sweet spot for me in a tenor ukulele. I'd tried using a baritone uke in GCEA tuning. I loved the sound, projection of the larger body, and fretboard room, but had ongoing problems with the A string breaking. Normally tuned baritone ukes sound "flabby" to me. Shorter scale tenors feel cramped to play and sound thin. The larger body size and extra room on this Kala is perfect for me. I'm dinging it one star because I had to do a slight bit of filing to smooth a nut slot, but otherwise it's perfect. ... show more

    • My other ukes feel neglected since I got this one!
After collecting a variety of ukuleles, mostly tenors and a couple of concerts, I got this one...and it's the one I always reach for. Beautiful sound, no buzz, feels great to hold, nice size fretboard. I love its rich tones and long sustain. Perfect!
