  • Seems like a pretty good little instrument, especially for the price.
Color: Natural wood color
I got it today, and while I got all but the A string to tune, I popped it, restrung it, popped it again, it simply would not tune to the A. Will take it into the guitar shop to get restrung, and tuned for the first time. I actually love this little instrument, and it is going to be a lot of fun once I get her all tuned up. Minus one star for the user/player, 5 for the instrument itself. Yes, instructions that came with the pick up are in in Chinese, I supposed I'll figure it out no problem. Just wish that darned string would tune to the A. Can't wait to start my bluegrass songlist. ... show more

  • great Banjolele & tuner.... broken softcase zipper agreed replaced free within 1/4 day of receipt.
Updated & Upgrading from 3 to 5 stars. Seller contacted within a few hours of receiving to replace bag with broken softcase zipper.. agreed to replace case free within 3 hours of my contacting them.:::: original review follows:::::: Would have gotten 5 stars if main softcase zipper didn't fall apart upon first unzipping. Banjolele itself is very good in design, sound quality and construction with only fault is that the 4 tuner knobs are a bit on the lightweight side but tuner gears are very good. Separate Tuner is nice and works well. The banjolele has good and lound sound strummed with only fingers as well. Banjolele bridge easily set up and tuned. Has side fret marker dots as well as on fretboard face. The banjolele is better in quality than price asked so, not too upset over a cheap zipper in the softcase arriving in 3 broken pieces. ... show more

  • Super Fun
A solid instrument. I'm new to playing Ukulele/Banjolele so I dont have much to compare it to, but the instrument feels sturdy, has a wonderful twang, and aside from my fingers hurting it's been really fun getting to practice on. One review said something about it feeling fragile I think but that really isn't the case, all of the wood feels solid and strong. Another negative review talked about it not holding its tuning, and again, I havn't experienced that myself. My one and only complaint is that the edges of the fret board are a bit rough. Sliding my hand up and down the neck while trying to keep a solid grip has resulted in a bit of skin being rubbed off my thumb but this is after multiple hour long practice sessions. All in all, if you're a beginner or curious about what a banjolele/banjo-uke/banjo ukulele sounds like and feels like, I'd feel fine recommending this instrument. For Beginners: 4 stars solely because of the fret board being jagged. If you're new youre going to be holding it tightly and practicing longer hours and its going to rub off some skin which isnt the best but theres no issues with durability, sound, or tuning. Value: 5 Stars. While its more expensive than most concert ukes, I think its a very competitive price for a more unique sound that is rarer than the standard ukulele. Giftable: If you know someone who wants to play banjo but doesn't have the space or patience to deal with a regular sized one or if you know a uke player who wants twang this would make a great gift. 4/5 ... show more

  • Amazing Value!
I've played guitar and ukulele for about 57 years, and of course have been through quite a few instruments-- enough to know a good one when I hold it and play it. This Kmise concert-scale banjo uke was my first venture into the "banjolele" world. It is very well put together, plays accurately, feels great, and sounds very nice! (The only modification I made was to remove the back cover, loosely stuff a couple of plastic bags (such as you'd get when buying things at Walgreen's or Target) in there, and then replace the back cover, which served to nicely tone down the otherwise loud voice of the instrument. I just don't think you could ask for more in an instrument-- and at this price it's an absolutely insane value! Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Missing items, poor customer service experience
Color: Reddish Brown
I purchased this banjo as ‘used-like new,’ and it was described as including a tuner, picks, strap, spare springs, and other accessories. Only the banjo, tuner, and case arrived in the package—extremely annoying! I followed amazon’s instructions in case of problems and emailed the selling company Kmise’s customer service asking for help, but they never replied. The banjo itself is of reasonably good quality and it would be hard for me to replace it in time for my needs, so I have decided not to return it. Since I didn’t receive all the promised items, though, the value of this purchase was significantly less than expected. Worst of all, the company is non-responsive about problems! I wish I could leave a good review since the banjo itself is a solid value for a beginner instrument, but because of the issues with fulfillment and customer service, I can’t recommend purchasing this banjo or any other instruments from this company. ... show more

  • Great little banjo Uke, especially considering the price.
Color: Black
I don't see how they can sell this package for the price. It's definitely worth it. Once I got the bridge properly placed, there were no intonation problems. (IMO, the bridge placement ruler is about one millimeter off). Frets were almost smooth. First and second position good, as you go up the neck there are some sharp edges, but I don't play up there. It's certainly a sturdily built little banjo. I think the strings really might be Aquilas, because I used this banjo on an outside gig and it stayed in tune. Speaking of which: I have played tenor banjo for years in a Traditional Jazz Band. As my hands have gotten arthritic now that I'm over 60, I had been looking for an alternative axe. Surprisingly, this little banjo uke will cut through four horns playing dixieland if you use a pick. The other thing you have to do is open up the "resonator," which actually acts more as a dampener UNLESS you open it up so the sound can get out. What I did was purchase some half-inch rubber washers and inserted them between the "resonator" and the rim. That's all it took to let the sound out so this little guy could keep up with the band. Highly recommended. In fact, this was the second one I've purchased. Kmise makes a really nice product with this little banjo ukulele ... show more

  • Properly set up this piece is a joy to pick.
Color: Reddish Brown
I ordered this piece with trepidation as I've purchased feature name banjos in the past. They sounded like rusty strings drawn over a bucket. This banjo is different. The resonator is made of a very quality hardwood with a bowl-shaped bottom. The neck is easily negotiable and most importantly when I pluck any string it is deep vibrant and melodious. It is also LOUD projecting a very clear lovely sound. If you purchase this banjo, read the instructions. Set the banjo up correctly or have a pro set it up. I was so surprised by it's sound quality I was speechless. There may be prettier banjos but I've yet to hear one with a better tone. ... show more
